○小石川御門内、伊予今治藩三万五千石の松平駿河守殿においては、今日五人の客が来ており、有馬日向侯、池田右京侯らが残って酒宴を行っていた。同夜戌の刻に帰宅し、当主一人が謡を歌っているところで地震により屋敷が倒壊した。家臣の戸塚助太夫、小泉三郎右衛門が駆けつけて主人を救出したところ、茶の間から出火し、家中すべてが焼失した。即死・焼死者は武士身分二十八人、足軽・中間五十余人とのことである。

○一ツ橋外、五万石の松平豊前守殿は、御玄関の奥まで倒壊したというものの、当主は幸いにも無事であった。家臣・中間合わせて九十六人、女性二十七人、乗馬十一頭が死亡し、怪我人は百余人、自ら火災となり自ら焼けた。

○小石川御門内、十二万石の松平讃岐守殿は当主は無事、家来三十三人、侍女二十九人が即死、怪我人は百五十余人で、庭中で三日の間野宿をしたということである。

Such was the story.

○At the residence of Lord Matsudaira Suruga-no-kami (35,000 koku, Iyo Imabari domain) inside Koishikawa Gate, five guests had come today, including Lord Arima Hyuga and Lord Ikeda Ukyo, who remained for a drinking party. That same night at the hour of the dog (around 8 PM), after returning home, the lord alone was singing noh songs when the earthquake struck and the mansion collapsed. Retainers Totsuka Suketayu and Koizumi Saburo Emon rushed to rescue their master, but fire broke out from the tea room and the entire household burned down. The immediate deaths and fire victims numbered 28 samurai and over 50 foot soldiers and servants.

○At the residence of Lord Matsudaira Buzen-no-kami (50,000 koku) outside Hitotsubashi, though the building collapsed all the way to the back of the entrance hall, the lord fortunately escaped disaster. A total of 96 retainers and servants, 27 women, and 11 horses died, with over 100 injured. The fire started and spread from within the residence.

○At the residence of Lord Matsudaira Sanuki-no-kami (120,000 koku) inside Koishikawa Gate, the lord was unharmed, but 33 retainers and 29 lady attendants died instantly, with over 150 injured. They camped outdoors in the garden for three days.

○At the residence of Lord Sakai Utano-kami (150,000 koku) in front of Ote Gate, though there was little collapse, fire broke out from the inner daisu room and everything burned down completely, including the storehouses. 84 retainers died instantly, and 163 female attendants in the inner quarters perished. The number of injured was countless.

○Lord Ogasawara Heibei (500 koku), a firearms commander of the advance guard in Ogawa-cho Sarugaku-cho, had received a visit from Sugiya Rokunosuke regarding a custom-ordered large cannon, and just as the order document was handed over and the guest was leaving, the earthquake struck.
