内藤の系譜は、鎮守府将軍・藤原秀郷より出づ。
秀郷の玄孫を左近将監、諱（いみな）は頼俊という。頼俊は内舎人（うとねり）に補せられた。頼俊の子を行俊という。行俊は江州（近江国）の検校に補せられ、これを内藤検校と称した。頼俊が内舎人に補せられたことにより、「内」をもって諸藤（他の藤原氏の流れ）と別ち、ここに復姓（ふくせい）となしたと云う。行俊の後に生まれた子孫を、豊後四郎左衛門、諱（いみな）は家清という。家…（以下次頁へ続く）

## Record of Words and Deeds of the Naito Family
Compiled with reverence by your servant, Toshimasa.
The lineage of the Naito family originates from Fujiwara no Hidesato, the Chinjufu-shōgun (Commander of the Pacification Headquarters).
Hidesato's great-great-grandson held the title of Sakon-shōgen, and his personal name (imina) was Yoritoshi. Yoritoshi was appointed to the position of Utoneri (Inner Chamberlain). Yoritoshi's son was called Yukitoshi. Yukitoshi was appointed as the Kengyō (Inspector/Administrator) of Ōmi Province (Gōshū), and was referred to as the "Naitō Kengyō." Because Yoritoshi had been appointed as Utoneri (内舎人), the character "Nai" (内, "inner") was used to distinguish this branch from the other Fujiwara lineages (Shofuji), and it is said that herein lies the origin of the restored surname (Naito). Among the descendants born after Yukitoshi was one known as Bungo Shirō Saemon, whose personal name (imina) was Iekiyo. [Continues on the next page...]
