（前頁からの続き）病気などの理由で登城できない者がいる場合は、上町役の月番・書役中へ同様の方法でお届け申し上げる。
四日、町役人・丁代・御用達の者たちが、昼頃（中刻）に揃って登城する。
なお、案内のため郷方（在方）の者が一人、町番所よりお出になる。
ただし、在方（農村部）の御目見えが済んでいる間は、

町役人は御玄関の鉢台（式台）のところに控え、丁代・御用達は御玄関前にある新たな（■）屋にそれぞれ控えている。
一、総じて御目見えの書付（書綿）の間、御厨（台所方）が休みとなるため、酒一升を切手（引換券）にて差し遣わす。なお、町役人へは酒を直接差し出す。

(Continued from previous page) In cases where someone is unable to attend the castle (tōjō) due to illness or other reasons, the matter is to be reported in the same manner to the monthly duty official (tsukiban) and clerical staff (kakiyaku) of the upper town officials (kamimachi-yaku).
On the 4th day, the town officials (machiyakunin), district representatives (chōdai), and supply agents (goyōtashi) are to assemble and proceed to the castle together at around midday (nakakoku, approximately noon).
As a guide, one person from the rural district (gōkata) is to come from the town guardhouse (machi-bansho).
However, while the rural area's (zakata) formal audience (omemie) is still in progress,

the town officials are to wait at the entrance step (hachinodai/shikidai) of the main gate (go-genkan), while the district representatives and supply agents wait in a new (■) building situated in front of the main gate, each in their designated places.
One item: During the period of the formal audience documents (kakiwata), the castle kitchen (mikuri) is closed, and therefore one shō of sake is to be sent via a voucher (kitte/hikkaeken). Note that sake is to be served directly to the town officials.
