[Right folio]
(Continued from the previous page) ...he promptly concluded the investigation, and having also diligently carried out the investigation into the case of the murder of Onchō, the retired monk of Jōrakuji temple in the same place, he was awarded two bundles of cotton (wata) as a mark of recognition.
Item: In the eighth month of the same year, he was appointed to the post of O-soba Ō-ometsuke (Senior Inspector of the Inner Chambers) in the Lord's presence; from the post of O-tsugi, he continued to receive the same stipend of 150 koku from his post's allowance (yakunyō) as before. In recognition of his many years of continuous service and labor, from the beginning of his posting at the Sagami Province defensive station (Sōshū go-sonaeba), he was presented with one garment of used (御古) katabira (a summer unlined robe), and it was announced that he had served diligently while concurrently carrying out multiple duties.
Item: In the fourth month of the fifth year [of Bunsei], the year of the Horse [1822], he traveled up to Edo as part of the lord's retinue for the sankin-kōtai attendance at the Shogunate. During the journey, he was provisionally appointed to perform the duties of Moto-kobangashira (former small-unit commander), as well as the provisional supervision of the O-kachi (foot soldiers) and the Ryō-omochi (two types of bearers/carriers).
[Left folio]
Item: In the same month, he was also assigned to handle the reception of visiting guests, and was ordered to also serve as the advance escort (o-sakidachi) at the time of the veneration of the Lord's effigy (o-katashiro-sama).
Item: In the same month, as the succession of the family headship (o-katoku) had been concluded, he was presented with two lengths of silk (kinu nippiki) as a congratulatory gift.
Item: In the eighth month of the same year, although he was due to descend [from Edo] upon completion of his term of duty (kinban), the rivers had flooded, and passage on the roads had been suspended. He therefore remained in Edo by request and descended in the ninth month of the same year.
