　　　　　　　　　世間で一般に水菜と呼ばれているものは、白菜が肥大したものであり、世間の人々は皆
　　　　　　　　　真の水菜というものを知らない。ただ京菜とのみ呼んでいる。一つの根から三
　　　　　　　　　四株をなす。本草書には■は水中に生ずると書かれているが、疑わしい。

　　　　　　　My observation:
　　　　　　　　　What people commonly call "mizuna" (water greens) is actually fattened Chinese cabbage, and the general public
　　　　　　　　　does not know what true water greens are. They simply call it only "kyō-na" (Kyoto greens). One root
　　　　　　　　　produces three to four plants. The pharmacological texts state that ■ grows in water, but this is questionable.
