桂の枝に葵を付けて簾や器に掛ける。これを
葵祭という。毎年四月中の酉の日に行われ、
北山中村より葵を献上する。
『地錦抄』に曰く
賀茂葵 異名毛呂波草
二葉草
『異名分類抄』に曰く
葵 モロハ草 モロカツラ 二葉草
カサシ草 ニワ草 形見草
ヒカケ草。この異名は考察すべきである。賀茂の葵は
その葉が日に随ってその根を照らさない故に
衡■と名づく

Grass category
There are many in the mountains of Kamo in Yamashiro Province. In Kamo shrine rituals, hollyhock is attached to katsura branches and hung on blinds and vessels. This is called the Aoi Festival (Hollyhock Festival). It is performed annually on the day of the Rooster in the fourth month, with hollyhock offered from Kitayama Nakamura.
In "Chikinsho" it states:
Kamo Hollyhock Alternative name: Moroha grass
Two-leaf grass
In "Imyō Bunruishō" it states:
Hollyhock Moroha grass Morokatsura Two-leaf grass
Kasashi grass Niwa grass Katami grass
Hikage grass - this alternative name should be examined. Kamo hollyhock
does not illuminate its roots following the sun with its leaves, hence
it is named Kō■
