英語訳
[Right Folio]
The sacred key is returned [to the *azukari* (Custodian)], and all withdraw [from beside the *haiden* (Oratory) of the Wakamiya]. All gather at the shrine precincts and await the two officials (*ryōkan*) of Ōta and the two officials of Ujigami. During this interval, the duties of the daily offerings (*nikku*) and the evening sacred meal (*yū-shinsen*) are completed, and all perform a circuit of the shrines [however, the two officials of Shingū, after completing their duties, make a circuit of worship as far as Kataoka Shrine, then proceed to the shrines of Iwamoto, Sawada, and Nara, and make their way to the *chōya* (庁屋, Administrative Hall). The shrine priests (*shakan*) of the Nara and Sawada shrines, after completing their service at the main shrine and performing the circuit of the various shrines, proceed to the designated sub-shrine (*bōsha*) and then proceed directly to arrive at the *chōya*]. The Five Officials (*gokan*) make a circuit of worship from Wakamiya through the various shrines and arrive at the *chōya*.
At the Inner Sanctuary (*go-naijin*) and Outer Sanctuary (*gejin*) of the designated shrine, a small sacred chest (*ko-on-bitsu*) is offered as the provision (*goryō*) for Komori Shrine.
[Left Folio]
The two officials of Ujigami return to the shrine precincts — this is the reception (*chōdai*) of the *uzue* (卯杖, Hare-Staff). One reports to the *azukari* and receives it.
On the first day of the First Month (New Year's Day), today is the day of the *uzue*. First comes the *uzue*, then the divine offerings (*shinku*).
The two officials take their seats in the *haiden* (Oratory). The *shōjin-tōnin* (精進頭人, Chief of Ritual Abstinence) first prepares the provisions (*goryō*) for the *hagatame* (歯固め, Tooth-Hardening ceremony) [these are placed before the *shishi* (獅㹮, lion-dog figure) on the *negi* side]. Once the *shōjin-tōnin* has finished the preparations, the *hafuri* priest rises from his seat and performs a single bow at the *doi* (土居, earthen enclosure), ascends the steps and performs a single bow at the *ō-yuka* (Great Floor), opens the sacred doors, and performs a single bow at the *ō-yuka*. He descends the steps; the two officials stand side by side at the *doi* and perform a single bow. They ascend the steps, perform a single bow at the *ō-yuka*, enter the Inner Sanctuary, perform a single bow, and carry out the relay of offerings (*tengu*). The *shōjin-tōnin* advances to the *doi*, performs a single bow, and relays the sacred chest (*on-bitsu*). First, the *uzue* [is offered] [on the *negi* side, one pair (*itstsui*) totaling four in all, one at each end; on the *hafuri* side, one bundle (*ippū*), one unit (*ichigō*) each; one pair is placed and stored in each of the left and right *keibutsu-bako* (景物筥, decoration/gift boxes)]. Next, the divine offerings are presented.
[The *negi* group withdraws from the Inner Sanctuary and returns to their seats in the *haiden*. Then, as the *hafuri* exits the Inner Sanctuary, the *negi* descends to the *doi*. At about this time, they emerge from the Inner Sanctuary and return to their seats in the *haiden*. A single bow is also performed at the *doi*.]
The two officials complete the recitation of the ritual prayers (*norito*), and the divine offerings are removed. The *hafuri* closes the sacred doors [at this time, the *negi* carries out the relay of offerings (*tengu*) and prostrates; during the relay, the sacred lock-wrapping (*on-sajō-tsutsumi*) is held aloft]. All withdraw [the *shōjin-tōnin* for this year is Takasue].
