[Right folio] Regarding the procedure: first, the *shoshi-tayū* (chief administrator) and the *jinnin* (shrine servants) each remove their footwear and stand barefoot. The *shoshi* stands facing south, while the *jinnin* stand facing north to count the offerings. They count "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine," doing so three times in one round. At this time, the *shoshi* receives the offerings using earthenware vessels (*kawarake*) three times. From the *kannagi* (shrine chief) on down to the *ujigami* priests (*hafuri*) and the *imiko* (ritual children/attendants), all participants pass the offerings around in turn. Each *shikan* (shrine official) receives their portion using paper (note: the appropriate paper should be prepared in advance). After all have received their portions in turn, the *shoshi*'s share is also counted and received, after which the straw bales (*tawara*) are removed and the participants withdraw. Next, the *ko-azukari* (junior custodian) wraps the *goryō* (ritual offerings/allotments) in small portions of paper and places them into the *ohitsu* (lidded wooden box). Once all have been passed through, they enter through the middle gate (*chūmon*) and close it. At this point, each person rises from their seat, makes a circuit of worship at each of the various shrines, and then withdraws. (Note: the *shikan* of Nara, Sawada, and similar shrines have already completed their circuit of worship, and therefore exit directly through the *Sakura-mon* [Cherry Gate] and withdraw from the second *torii* gate. However, the *shikan* of Sawada shrine withdraws after completing worship at Nara shrine.) [Left folio] [Blank]
