**The Ceremony at Kifune Shrine**
On the following morning, around the Hour of the Dragon (approximately 8:00 a.m.), the two officials (ryōkan) each don their ritual purification robes (go-jōe). Beginning with Ōta, they gather at the shrine precincts, and once preparations are complete, they proceed to Kifune Shrine.
The ceremony is conducted as customary: one toneri (attendant) is summoned, and one person carrying the ceremonial robes accompanies them. The ritual food offerings (shinku) for the inner sanctuary (naijin) are received from the bettō (administrator) at the nieden (offering hall), as customary. (Note: On the previous day, one should visit the nieden and politely request that the said offerings be delivered early on the following morning.) The vessels (sakana-kago, side-dish baskets) are carried from the negi's residence, and the person handling the ceremonial robes walks alongside and assists in transporting them. The items are the same as those for the seven Kamo shrines, and the daily offerings (nichiku) for the outer sanctuary (gejin) are transported and arranged there on the previous day.
Next, the two officials arrive at Kobune (木船), and first don their court caps and robes (ikan) at the miko-ya (shrine maiden's house), before taking their seats at the haiden (worship hall) (as customary).
Next, the miko (shrine maiden) presents the sacred key (mikagi) to the hafuri (shrine priest). (As customary, it is placed on a sanpō tray, brought to the front, and the miko, while remaining seated before the eastern tatami, passes it over.) At this time, the hafuri rises from his seat, advances before the deity's presence, opens the sacred door, and descends to the earthen floor (doi) (as is customary).
