**[Right Page]** Once (the sacred lock wrapping) has been handed over, the recipient withdraws. The hafuri receives it, holds it reverently, and when the wrapping is complete, makes one bow at the main floor (ōyuka) and earthen floor (doi), then returns to his original seat. Next, the ritual offerings (shinku) are treated as naorai (a ritual communal meal following worship). (The toneri brings them in their vessels; after the two officials have partaken, the food is handed to the laborers who carry the ceremonial robes.) When this is complete, the two officials withdraw and change into plain robes (jōe) at the miko's chamber (mikoya). They proceed through a circuit of worship from the Gonden (auxiliary shrine) to the Okumiya (inner shrine), and when finished, return to Kamo. (Note: The ritual offerings that have been withdrawn [o-sagari] are divided equally between the two officials as their naorai. Accordingly, after returning home, as is customary, a messenger is sent to the negi's residence to collect them.) --- **[Left Page]** A Record of Instructions Issued from Within the Shrine A Memorandum on the Eight Shrine Ritual Food Offerings (Denku) for Annual Ceremonies Item: Regarding the denku (transmission of offerings) for the two shrines of Kataoka and Wakamiya — the duty officers on rotation (tōban-jū) shall attend and serve. Item: Regarding Kibune — the proxy officials (daikan-shū) shall perform the duties. Item: Regarding the denku for the five shrines of Shingū, Ōta, Nara, Sawada, and the Ujigami — five persons serving as heads of the ritual purification (shōjin-gashira) shall attend and serve. However, during the period when participants are in sacred seclusion (sanrō) for the Uzue (ritual wand) ceremony, five members of the proxy officials (daikan-shū) shall instead perform the duties. Furthermore, for the ceremonies on the night of the 14th day of the first month and on the 15th day, the five forthcoming shōjin-gashira shall perform the duties. The coordination and arrangements for these ceremonies shall be carried out by the Shoshi-dayū (administrative official).
