**[Right Page]**
Next, the negi (senior shrine priest) rises from his seat and advances to the earthen floor (doi). The two officials (ryōkan) stand side by side and make one bow (ippai), then enter the inner sanctuary (naijin). First, one kubotsuки (concave ritual cup) from the hafuri's side is placed at the center of the御台盤 (offering table) (this is because it is the single portion [kata-goryō] for the hafuri's side).
Next, the miko (shrine maiden) rises from her seat, makes one bow, and takes her position on the earthen floor (doi) on the hafuri's side.
Next, the hafuri rolls up the sudare (bamboo blind/sacred screen).
Next, the ritual food offerings (shinku) are carried forward, and the miko performs the transfer of offerings. When finished, the screen is lowered.
The procedure is as follows: The toneri (attendant) brings out the ritual offerings from the haiden (worship hall). (Note: Prior to this, after the offerings have arrived, they are placed in their vessels and set upon the offering table in the haiden.)
First, one cup of sealed rice (go-fūmai) (placed in a three-use earthenware vessel [sandо-doки] and set upon a circular tray [marуban]) is handed to the miko, who receives and holds it reverently, ascends to the ōyuka (main floor), and presents it to the two officials. At this point, the negi places it into the kubotsuki cup. Next, chopsticks (one set) and one cup of cedar-shaped steamed rice (sugikata go-han, placed in a flat earthenware vessel) are placed together on a single circular tray.
Next, salted sea bream (shio-tai, two pieces [futa-nodo]) and ray/skate (ei, two pieces — note: one of the two is actually barracuda [kamasu]) are presented in the same manner. The two officials each place the offerings into their respective kubotsuki cups. Next, sacred sake (miki) (served in a three-use earthenware vessel with a stand, with paper used as customary, placed on a circular tray) is offered by the negi upon the offering table (placed to the left, in front of the kubotsuki cup).
**[Left Page]**
Next, the two officials exit the inner sanctuary (naijin). (Note: The miko has already returned to her seat before this.) They make one bow on the ōyuka (main floor), descend to the earthen floor (doi), perform two stages of double bowing (re-hai), and recite the norito (ritual prayers) (as customary).
When finished, they re-enter the inner sanctuary as before, and the miko likewise advances to the earthen floor.
Next, the hafuri rolls up the sacred screen (misu).
Next, the miko, holding the circular tray reverently, ascends to the main floor (ōyuka).
Next, the ritual offerings are cleared away (tessen).
The procedure is as follows: First, the sacred sake (along with its stand), then the sea bream and ray/skate (stacked together), then the rice and chopsticks, then the sealed rice, etc., are removed in this order.
Next, the sacred wiping cloth (o-nugui) is presented (half-paper [hanshi] folded once in half and inserted into a slender bamboo [shinodake], one sheet for each side, left and right). This is prepared and presented by the miko.
Next, the hafuri lowers the sacred screen. (At this time, the kubotsuki cup is returned to its original place and wiped, and the offering table, etc., is also wiped clean.)
Next, the negi exits the inner sanctuary and returns to his original seat.
Next, the hafuri exits the inner sanctuary and closes the sacred door. At this point, the miko presents the sacred lock wrapping (mijō-tsutsumi) (inserted in a slender bamboo [shinodake], as customary; however, at this time it is exchanged for the sacred key [mikagi], or it may be returned on the earthen floor [doi]. Note: it is the miko's responsibility to handle the sacred lock wrapping).
