現代語訳
あんけらとこんけらの両坊主は遊び散らし、贅沢三昧をして、その上にあんけらの思いつきで大尽として名を知られたいと、着物の裏にあんけらこんけらの名前を入れて、飴売りの趣向で歌わせた。芸者の歌吉と一緒に歌って洒落ている。
歌：
♪娘は昔のことにしてやんして、どうしたのう。通えば通うほど、ハア、あんけら、こんけら、こんけら、あんけら、恋しくなるハア。やっさもっさ、あっちでやれ、ここでやれ。きんきんと舞いのう、おいのう。
「本当に面白い歌でございますね」と老婆が無性に褒めちぎった。

英語訳
The two monks Ankera and Konkera were living it up and indulging in luxury. On top of that, Ankera had the idea of becoming famous as a wealthy patron by having their names "Ankera Konkera" embroidered inside their kimono and having it sung in the style of candy peddlers. They performed together with the geisha Kayoshi in a playful manner.
