（計算法）十二間に十八間を加えると三十間になる。二つに割ると十五間になる。これに長さ（高さ）十五間を掛けると二百二十五坪になる。別に置いておく。また、横十八間に三間を加えると二十一間になる。二つに割ると十間半になる。これを長さ（高さ）十八間に掛けると百八十九坪になる。右（先に求めた）二百二十五坪に加えると四百十四坪になる。田地の法「3」で割るとわかる。

Method: Add 18 ken to 12 ken to get 30 ken. Divide by two to get 15 ken. Multiply this by the length (height) of 15 ken to get 225 tsubo. Set this aside. Next, add 3 ken to 18 ken to get 21 ken. Divide by two to get 10 ken and a half. Multiply this by the length (height) of 18 ken to get 189 tsubo. Adding this to the 225 tsubo set aside on the right gives 414 tsubo. Divide by 3, the standard divisor for rice paddies, to arrive at the answer.

Method: Divide 2 ken by two to get 1 ken. Multiply this by the length (height) of 24 ken to get 24 tsubo. Next, add 18 ken to 2 ken to get 20 ken. Divide by two to get 10 ken. Multiply this by the length (height) of 12 ken to get 120 tsubo. Adding this to the 24 tsubo obtained on the right gives 144 tsubo. Divide by 3, the standard divisor for rice paddies, to get 4 se, 24 bu.
