スナヘソ（砂臍）
海浜の浅い水のところに生息する。肉体は砂中に潜り、上部に触手を水中に揺らして藻のようにしている。小虫がその中に入ると、巻き込んで食べる。これは俗にイノシリ、またはシリゴダマと呼ばれるものの仲間である。

【下段】
この生物は人の足音を聞くと、たちまち砂中へ縮んで入る。砂を掘って一塊を得ると、土のような形をしている。ナマコの臭気がある。形が臍のようなので、この名前がある。松前のエトモ、ミツイシ、コンブムイという場所に多い。触手を開けば花のように美しい。

Sunaheso (Sand Navel)
Lives in shallow water areas along the seashore. Its body burrows into the sand, with tentacles swaying in the water above like seaweed. When small insects enter among them, it wraps around and eats them. This is a type of what is commonly called "Inoshiri" or "Shirigodama."

【Lower Section】
When this creature hears the sound of human footsteps, it immediately contracts and retreats into the sand. When you dig in the sand and obtain a mass, it looks like a lump of earth. It has the odor of sea cucumber. Because its shape resembles a navel, it has this name. It is abundant in places called Etomo, Mitsuishi, and Konbumui in Matsumae. When the tentacles are opened, they are beautiful like flowers.
