　入ス又世美鯨ノ頭上吻上ニモツク形ノ大小ハ鯨魚ノ大小ニ随フ
　土人瀬ガイト云或此モノ蟹ノ脚ノ如キモノヲ出スコトアリ
　殻ノ底ハ鯨皮ニシカト固着シテ

現代語訳

【右丁】
石蜐（せっけい）　一種　クジラガキ　肥前五島海中で捕獲した座頭鯨の脇腹、頭、ひれ、尾端等にぴったりと粘着している。時折花を咲かせることがあり、玉簪花の蕾に似て、とても美しい。物が触れる時は殻の中に縮んで入る。また、セミクジラの頭上や吻の上にも付く。形の大小は鯨魚の大小に従う。土地の人は「瀬ガイ」と言う。あるいはこの生物は蟹の脚のようなものを出すことがある。殻の底は鯨の皮にしっかりと固着して、強く揺さぶってもはがれないものである。

Sekkei (Stone Barnacle) - One Species - Whale Barnacle: Found attached firmly to the flanks, head, fins, tail end, etc. of humpback whales caught in the waters around Goto Islands in Hizen Province. Sometimes it blooms flowers that resemble the buds of plantain lily flowers and are very beautiful. When something touches it, it contracts into its shell. It also attaches to the top of the head and snout of right whales. The size varies according to the size of the whale. Local people call it "Segai." Sometimes this creature extends crab leg-like appendages. The bottom of the shell adheres firmly to the whale's skin and will not come off even when shaken vigorously.
