檻や柵がある。市街に行くには必ず砲台の前を通る。城の後ろに大きな寺があり、大きな自鳴鐘を掛けている。城の側の海岸に倉庫が連なり、船の積荷を収納している。倉庫の下を波止場とする。造船所は海から半丁余り離れている。傍らに「ベル」鐘を掛け、およそ人夫を集めるにはこれを鳴らして知らせる。城内にも一つの鐘があり、非常警戒の時にはこれを鳴らす。障壁より低く外からは見えない。兵営は町の南に三棟連なっている。車道の南に砂浜があり、その端で海に突き出た縦横五間余りの盤石がある。酋長の涼み台はその石の上に設営し、魚釣りの遊びをする場所とする。その湾の入り口は小さな漁船を泊めることができるだけである。岸の上、海に沿って深い林がある。長さ五六丁、林の入り口には我が国の「歩み」様の板道を敷いて往来する。林が尽きると幅十余間の清流があり、水は澄み切って鱖魚が多く遡る。板橋を渡って進むこと数丁、一つの大きな池がある。幅一丁、長さ六丁、春の氷床を走る場所とする。鎮を去ること一里余りで「コルシ」・「インジーネン」の村落がある。これは同化した現地民で、山中に住む者より比較的御しやすい。大体この鎮は「カムサツカ」「オホツカ」とは異なり、諸国の商船が港に集まり貿易が盛んで、あらゆる商品が並んでいる。中国人もまた非常に多い。しかしその交易は商館がなく、皆が部屋を借りて荷物を置き販売しているので、売り終わると随時去っていく。また火輪船も鎮に来て初めて見た。

There are barriers and fences. To go to the market streets, one must pass in front of the artillery. Behind the castle is a large temple with a great automatic bell hung. Along the coastline beside the castle, warehouses are lined up to store ship cargo. The area below the warehouses serves as a wharf. The shipyard is about half a chō away from the sea. A "bell" is hung nearby, and when gathering workers, they ring it to notify them. There is also a bell inside the castle, which is rung during emergency alerts. It is lower than the barrier and cannot be seen from outside. The military barracks consist of three connected buildings south of the town. South of the road is a sandy beach, at the end of which is a flat rock about five ken square jutting into the sea. Generally, this town differs from "Kamchatka" and "Okhotsk" in that merchant ships from various countries gather at the port, trade flourishes, and all kinds of goods are displayed. Chinese people are also very numerous. However, their commerce lacks trading houses - everyone rents rooms to store and sell their goods, leaving once they finish selling. I also saw steamships come to the town for the first time.
