弘化二年乙巳年
正月小
元日癸亥晴れ、四海静謐なり。いよいよ重々の御神事、例年の如し。○御家門の御祝い向き、当年より五ヶ年の間御省略中につき、御祝いの菱餅・柏餅、重箱、御歯固めの余りを省略される。御参賀の日、例年経紀・経啓が供奉する。○入夜の節会、外弁の御参拝に両人が供奉、同断。陣の後、御早出なり。
二日甲子晴れ、年始の氏神社への初参拝を例の如く終える。
三日乙丑雨、関東年始の御使として入江土佐守が仰せ付けられる。
六日戊辰晴れ、経寛が年始かつ明冬の臨時御祭の加陪従を滞りなく勤行した御礼等のため参社する。○一昨日四日、薩州留主居の山田市左衛門が室町の瀬尾方にて休息するにつき、千代蔵が出張し雑煮・酒飯等を出し、予も相伴に行く。留主居と初めて面会し対談を終える。
八日庚午晴れ、経啓が年頭の参社をする。

First Month (29 days)
New Year's Day, Day of the Water Boar, clear weather. The four seas are peaceful and tranquil. The most important sacred rituals performed as in previous years. ○Regarding the celebratory arrangements for the imperial family, due to the period of economizing for five years starting this year, the celebratory diamond-shaped rice cakes, oak leaf rice cakes, stacked boxes, and remnants of the tooth-hardening ceremony are omitted. On the day of New Year's congratulations, Keiki and Keikei attend as usual. ○At the evening banquet, two people attend the outer minister's visit, same as usual. After the formation, there is an early departure.
2nd day, Day of the Wood Rat, clear weather. The customary New Year's first visit to the clan shrine is completed as usual.
3rd day, Day of the Wood Ox, rain. Irie Tosa-no-kami is appointed as the New Year's envoy to the Kantō region.
6th day, Day of the Earth Dragon, clear weather. Keikan visits the shrine for New Year's greetings and to express gratitude for successfully performing his duties as an attendant at next winter's special festival without incident. ○The day before yesterday, the 4th, Yamada Ichizaemon, the Satsuma domain's representative, rested at the Seo residence in Muromachi, so Chiyozō went there and provided rice soup, sake, and meals. I also went to accompany him. This was my first meeting with the domain representative, and we concluded our conversation.
8th day, Day of the Metal Horse, clear weather. Keikei makes his New Year's visit to the shrine.
