英語訳

1. On May 3rd, for the Boys' Day celebration, ceremonial summer garments (katabira and hitoe) were presented through an envoy as customary, and silver was offered to the Shogun's wife (Midaidokoro-sama) and the retired Shogun (Ichii-sama). 1. On the 11th of the same month, [the lord] returned to his castle. 1. On the 12th of the same month, for the same reason mentioned above, envoy Takachi Sugita Gorobei Mitake was dispatched to Edo for formal thanks, departing from Fukui today. 1. On the last day of the same month, through an official document from the duty magistrate Inaba Tango-no-kami Masamichi, word came to the castle keeper that the envoy for thanks upon returning home should appear at the castle tomorrow morning, and that personal thanks would also be commanded. 1. On June 1st, through envoy Sugita Gorobei Mitake for thanks upon returning home, formal paper, kelp, dried sea bream, and sake barrels were presented as customary. After the monthly formal thanks, at the White Study (Hakushoin), Gorobei was granted an audience, then withdrew and appeared again to offer personal thanks, presenting a ceremonial sword and horse substitute fee. Afterward, he made courtesy rounds to the Senior Councilors, Chamberlains, and Junior Councilors for thanks. Note: After the second service, there had been no audience for the aforementioned envoy, but from this time forward, audience and personal thanks were commanded according to previous precedent. 1. On the 3rd of the same month, the same envoy Sugita Gorobei Mitake appeared at the castle where he received a reply letter, and on that occasion Gorobei was granted seasonal clothing. 1. On the 9th of the same month, due to the hot season, envoy Suzuki Uzaemon Gasho was sent to Edo to inquire about [the Shogun's] health.
