諸向江申渡之左之通御書付一通宛相渡之
近年段々御入用共相重り至今年御勝手必
至と差支依之猶又御簡略被 仰出候面々役方
諸事御入用之儀末々迄委敷遂吟味御費無
之様ニ可被致候尤先年御簡略之儀被 仰出趣ニ
相替儀者無之候得共猶以御書付之通申渡候

その旨を備前守様の御家老大熊六左衛門・佐久間主計より申し来たため、お考えを伺ったところ、少しも御遠慮には及ばないので、彼方より御修復を仰せ付けるよう申し遣わす旨を仰せ出されたため、右の趣旨を六左衛門・主計へ申し遣わし、右の件について高野山大徳院へも御家老より書翰をもって申し遣わした。
一、八月九日、月次の御機嫌伺いのため御使者樋口小左衛門安隆を江戸表へ派遣し、御肴一種を献上した。小左衛門は今日福井を出立した。
但し同月二十一日に御返書のお渡しがあった。
一、同月十六日、評定所において月番御家老松平庄兵衛正恒が御倹約の件について諸方面へ申し渡した。左の通りの御書付を一通ずつ相渡した。
「近年段々と御入用が重なり、今年に至って御勝手が必至と差し支えるため、なお一層の御簡略を仰せ出す。面々役方は諸事御入用の件について末々まで委しく吟味を遂げ、御費えがないようにすべきである。もっとも先年の御簡略の件で仰せ出された趣旨に相違することはないが、なお以って御書付の通り申し渡す。」

御武具御破損方の御用について、先年の御定めの半分を減銀する。

Due to this matter being communicated by Lord Bizen-no-kami's chief retainers Ōkuma Rokuzaemon and Sakuma Shukai, when their thoughts were inquired, it was ordered that there was no need for any reserve and that instructions should be sent for them to order the repairs from their side. Accordingly, this matter was communicated to Rokuzaemon and Shukai, and regarding this matter, a letter was also sent from the chief retainer to Daitokuin at Mount Kōya.
1. On August 9th, Higuchi Kozaemon Yasutaka was dispatched as an envoy to Edo for the monthly inquiry into [the Shogun's] well-being, presenting one type of delicacy. Kozaemon departed from Fukui today.
Note: A reply letter was delivered on the 21st of the same month.
1. On the 16th of the same month, at the Council Chamber (Hyōjōsho), the monthly chief retainer Matsudaira Shōbei Masatsune issued instructions regarding economy measures to all departments. Written orders as follows were distributed, one copy each:
"In recent years, various expenses have accumulated, and this year our finances have reached a critical point of difficulty. Therefore, further simplification is ordered. All officials in their respective roles must carefully examine all matters concerning expenses down to the smallest details and ensure there is no waste. Although there is no change from the intent of the simplification measures ordered in previous years, these instructions are nevertheless issued as written."
To the Armory Supervisors:
For armory repair duties, the silver allowance shall be reduced to half of the previous stipulation.
