【右丁】

　　宿帳　《割書：ホツシンテフ｜》

　　此蝶四時共に有り春日出て菘花の蘂を吸ふ又やゝ
　　小にして黒斑ある者あり

【左丁】

　　此蝶梅雨の時双蝶杏梅の上に飛ふ皆尺蠖の化するところ
　　なり其虫数色あり蝶の形状及班亦同しからず

現代語訳

【右丁】

　　宿帳蝶（ホツシンテフ）

　　この蝶は四季を通じて見られる。春には飛び出し、菘（かぶ・あおな）の花の蜜を吸う。また、やや小さく、黒い斑紋のあるものもいる。

【左丁】

　　この蝶は梅雨の時期に、二羽連れ立って杏や梅の上を飛ぶ。これらはすべて尺取り虫（シャクトリムシ）が変化したものである。その幼虫にはさまざまな種類があり、蝶の形や斑紋もまた同じではない。

【Right folio】

　　The Hosshintchō (Hosshin Butterfly)

　　This butterfly can be found throughout all four seasons. In spring, it emerges and sips nectar from the flowers of turnip/greens (菘). There are also individuals that are somewhat smaller and bear black markings.

【Left folio】

　　During the rainy season (梅雨), this butterfly flies in pairs above apricot and plum trees. All of these butterflies are the transformed forms of inchworms (geometrid moth larvae). The larvae come in various types, and accordingly, the shape and markings of the butterflies are not uniform.
