そこで父母の嘆き悲しむ声が止まない。ただ私の仲間の子どもだけは、祈祷もせず心配もせず、子どもらしく笑って平穏である。これもまた神の恵みなのか、それとも避病の恵みなのか。願わくは伯寿と同じ志を持つ者があって、これを一つの郷に施し、さらに一州に広げ、ついには天下の人をして太平の世の民たらしめるならば、これを済民の一助と言わずして何と言おうか。私が親しく見た所を記して証拠とする。

Therefore, the voices of fathers and mothers lamenting do not cease. Only the children of my associates, without praying or worrying, laugh innocently and remain peaceful. Is this also a blessing from the gods, or is it a blessing from disease avoidance? I wish that there would be those who share the same aspirations as Hakuju, implementing this in one village, extending it to one province, and finally making all people under heaven become citizens of a peaceful world—could this not be called an aid to saving the people? I record what I have personally witnessed as evidence.
