「以知草（いちくさ）」—正字は不詳。
> 景天草の和名を「以知久佐（いちくさ）」と言うが、これは景天の仲間である。それゆえ、誤って「以知草」と呼ぶのであろうか。

**【梅園の考察】：**
按ずるに、説によれば、（以知草は）景天の中でも極めて小さいものであるという。また、爪蓮華の苗に似て、茎が蔓のように弱く繁茂し、五月に小さな黄色の花を咲かせる。人家で栽培されるという。庭園にあるものがこれであろうか。別に「佛甲草」も記載されているが、花と葉が『大和本草』の図と合わず、異なっている。いずれを本来の名称とすべきか。「以知草」の説明がこれに当たる（と思われる）。

**From the *Wakan Sansai Zue* (Illustrated Sino-Japanese Encyclopedia), section on Rock Plants:**
"*Ichikusa*" (以知草) — the correct written form is unknown.
> The Japanese name for *Keitensō* (景天草, *Sedum*) is said to be "*Ichikusa*" (以知久佐); this plant belongs to the *Sedum* family. Therefore, could it be that it is mistakenly called "*Ichikusa*"?

**[Baien's Commentary/Investigation]:**
Upon examination, according to one account, [*Ichikusa*] is among the very smallest of the *Sedum* varieties. It also resembles the seedling of *Tsumerenka* (*Orostachys japonica*), with weak, vine-like stems that grow in profusion, blooming with small yellow flowers in the fifth month. It is said to be cultivated in people's homes — could the ones found in garden settings be this plant? *Butsukouso* (佛甲草) is listed separately, but its flowers and leaves do not match the illustration in *Yamato Honzō* and differ from it. It is unclear which should be considered the authentic name. The description of "*Ichikusa*" appears to be applicable here.
