**[Right folio]**
(The mulberry leaves) steam and become hot. If you insert waste-paper baskets (*hōgu-kago*) here and there in an upright position to allow the heat to escape, they will not steam up. Occasionally, turn the bottom to the top and flip them over.
● Wet mulberry leaves must not be fed to the silkworms. Make it a habit to pick and store leaves while the weather is clear.
○ Method for sweeping down (newly hatched silkworms from the seed paper)
Finely chop the mulberry leaves and sprinkle them over the entire surface of the seed paper (*tane-gami*), and the (newly hatched) silkworms will all attach themselves to the mulberry without exception. If you then sweep the silkworms down together with the mulberry using a feather broom (*habōki*), the silkworms will not be harmed.
**[Left folio]**
○ Method for turning over (the rearing trays) while the silkworms are still young
Take millet bran, or if using rice husk bran, grind it finely, and sift it evenly over the silkworms. The silkworms, disliking this, will climb up onto the bran. At this point, sprinkle finely chopped mulberry leaves over them, and they will all attach themselves to the mulberry without exception. After feeding them mulberry two or three times, roll up the silkworms together with the mulberry as if rolling up paper, and spread them out in a separate *ori* (a container for housing silkworms). In the original *ori*, only the old mulberry and silkworm droppings will remain below the bran boundary — these should be discarded. *(Once the silkworms have grown larger, clean your hands and handle them directly by hand.)*
