This is something shaped like a tobigu chi (a hook-tipped pole).
The above is used to hook and pull the skin and flesh of whales.
Suji-kosaki (also called nibe-kiri hōchō [nibe-cutting knife]): 16 pieces
Price per piece: approximately 3 monme 5 bu in silver

The blade is six sun in length, and the handle is three sun. The lower part of the blade has no cutting edge — this is for extracting blood and fat. The upper part has a cutting edge, which is for cutting nibe (whale sinew/connective tissue). (This is noted in the Karatsu Whaling Illustrated Explanation.) Two pieces are allocated per person.
The above is used to squeeze out blood and fat from the sinew (suji).
The items listed above represent the general inventory of tools kept in the ko-nagaya (small processing shed).
According to the Kujira-ki (Whale Record), in addition to the atama-nagaya (head shed) and hone-nagaya (bone shed), there is also a
taru-nagaya (barrel shed)
