雑色四人（朽葉色の上着の上首二人、平礼の下臈二人）、細立の童一人（薄色の上下着用、物忌み中）、傘持ち、沓持ち、白丁のほかに取物白丁四人、胡床を持参させた。戌の刻頃、勅使高松殿以下が当社へご参向。舞人は広橋殿、八条殿、柳原殿、勘解由小路殿。加陪従は庭田殿、五辻殿、牧、藤木。出納人は長安倍、その他所作陪従等であった。私は申の刻過ぎに経寛の元から帰り、侍所に詰めて、亥の刻過ぎに終了。伝奏広橋殿をはじめ、休息なしに直ちに社頭からご退出された。経寛は滞りなく参勤し、誠に珍重なことであった。
二十八日辛卯 時雨
左大将殿より亀君御方へ今日御結納を進められた。御褂一領（紅雲立涌織物）、浜打衣石領、萌木単衣一領、法打御袴一腰、檜扇、松重御服、押金漆御付帯、根引松亀甲押金箔、その他御方々より種々贈り物があった。御使大夫高橋がご対面。御祝物以下御内一統総詰め三人が披衣。ただし大夫入江は五位薄色指貫着用、一統は熨斗目麻上下で恐悦申し上げ、御祝酒を下された。大納言殿より御答礼の御使として入江が相勤めた。昨夜入水があった。
十二月大

薩州御屋敷へ千代蔵の遠路見舞いのため出向き、巳の刻に駕籠で帰宅した。播磨守丕顕は先頃来病気であったが養生叶わず、昨二十九日に卒去。昨夕京都出張所より引き取ったとのこと。その時三老年七十七歳。午後弔問のため御酒二升を持参して送った。今晩葬送である。
二日甲午 晴
今日改元が定まった。当五月関東御本丸焼失によるものである。先例であろうか。御参役は経紀、経啓が供奉した。陳述は困難だが以下の通り御治定された。弘化元年と決定。

Four zōshiki (two senior officials in withered-leaf colored upper garments, two junior officials in formal attire), one細立 child attendant (wearing light-colored garments, in ritual abstinence), umbrella bearer, shoe bearer, and four hakuchō (white-robed attendants) carrying ritual objects, along with a folding chair. Around the hour of the Dog (7-9 PM), Imperial Messenger Takamatsu-dono and others visited our shrine. The dancers were Hirohashi-dono, Hachijō-dono, Yanagiwara-dono, and Kageyu-kōji-dono. The accompanying attendants were Nitta-dono, Gotsuji-dono, Maki, and Fujiki. The treasurer was Naga-Abe, along with other ceremonial attendants. I returned from Tsunehiro's place after the hour of the Monkey (3-5 PM), remained at the samurai office, and finished after the hour of the Boar (9-11 PM). The court liaison Hirohashi-dono and others departed directly from the shrine grounds without rest. Tsunehiro performed his duties without incident, which was truly commendable.
28th day, Kanoto-u (Metal Rabbit) - Light rain
Today, His Excellency the Sadaijin sent betrothal gifts to Lady Kame-kimi: one御褂 (formal robe) of red cloud and rising wave brocade, one浜打衣 robe, one light green unlined robe, one formal hakama, a hinoki fan, Matsushige formal wear, a lacquered obi with gold decoration featuring trailing pine and tortoiseshell patterns with gold leaf, and various other gifts from different parties. Messenger Takahashi had an audience. For the celebration, three officials dressed formally, with Dainagon Irie wearing fifth-rank light-colored sashinuki, while others wore noshime hemp formal wear, expressing joy and receiving celebratory sake. Irie served as messenger for the return courtesy from the Dainagon. Last night there was flooding.
12th Month (Long Month)
1st day, Mizunoto-mi (Water Snake) - Rain turning to snow
Went to the Satsuma residence to inquire about Chiyozō's distant journey, returning home by palanquin at the hour of the Snake (9-11 AM). Harima-no-kami Hiroshi had been ill for some time, but treatment was unsuccessful and he passed away yesterday, the 29th. He was retrieved from the Kyoto outpost office yesterday evening. He was seventy-seven years old at the time. In the afternoon, I brought two shō of sake for condolences. The funeral is tonight.
2nd day, Kinoe-uma (Wood Horse) - Clear
Today the era name change was decided. This is due to the burning of the main keep of Edo Castle in the fifth month of this year. Perhaps this follows precedent. The participating officials were Tsuneki and Tsuneaki as attendants. Though difficult to state clearly, the following was decided: designated as Kōka 1st year.
