人称スル所ノ唐伝ノ解痘方ヲ用ヒシ者両児
ニ牛痘ヲ種試ムルニ皆能ク萌生ス是ヲ以テ

荊芥穂《割書：各一｜銭》 当帰 芍薬

右用水二茶杯煎一酒杯用本孩児臍帯約二三
寸須用瓦乙張炭火焙乾研末調入葯内忌用煤

火令小児数次尽頭日服葯次日出痘三日収功
不灌漿亦不結眼再数日出疹方愈此方須於十
日外十八日内用之若過十八日則不験矣此方
唐山伝遍各処服過効験者不計也望将此方公

【右丁】
人々が称するところの唐伝の解痘方を用いた者の両児童
に牛痘を試しに種痘したところ、皆よく発芽した。これをもって
これを考察すれば、その唐伝の方法は治療効果がないようである。
しかしながらまた参考のために左にその処方を示す。
初生小児解痘方
金銀花 紅花 桃仁
荊芥穂《各一銭》 当帰 芍薬
生地黄《各二銭》 生甘草《五分》
右の薬を水二茶杯で一酒杯まで煎じ、その子の臍帯約二、三
寸を用い、必ず瓦一枚を使って炭火で焙り乾かして粉末にし、薬内に調合する。煤

火の使用は禁じる。小児に数回に分けて飲ませ、初日に薬を服用し、翌日に出痘し、三日で効果が現れ、
膿を持たずまた膿疱も結ばない。さらに数日して発疹が出てようやく治る。この処方は必ず
十日後から十八日以内に用いるべきで、もし十八日を過ぎれば効果がない。この処方は
中国から各地に広まり、服用して効果を得た者は数え切れない。この処方を
日本諸州に公布することを願う。その功績は非常に大きく、出痘の患いを免れることができるであろう。故に特に
告知する。

this observation, it appears that the Chinese method lacks therapeutic effectiveness.

Prescription for Preventing Smallpox in Newborn Infants
Lonicera japonica flowers Safflower Peach kernels
Schizonepeta spikes《1 qian each》 Angelica sinensis White peony root
Fresh Rehmannia root《2 qian each》 Raw licorice root《5 fen》
Decoct the above medicines in two tea cups of water down to one wine cup. Use about two to three
cun of the child's umbilical cord, which must be dried over charcoal fire using a tile and ground into powder to be mixed into the medicine. Avoid using smoky

fire. Give to the child in several doses. Take the medicine on the first day, pox appears the next day, and effectiveness is achieved in three days.
There is no suppuration nor pustule formation. After several more days, rash appears and recovery finally occurs. This prescription must be used
between ten days and eighteen days after birth; if beyond eighteen days, it will not be effective. This prescription
spread from China to various places, and countless people have taken it with good results. It is hoped that this prescription will be promulgated
throughout the various provinces of Japan. Its merit is enormous and can prevent the suffering of smallpox. Therefore, this is specially
announced.
