同じく防戦を行ったという。慶長四年亥年十二月二十五日、七十余歳で病死した（法名は西歓禅琢居士、葬所は不詳）。政直の臨終の際、台命により二男孫右衛門正次に相続を仰せ付けられた（子孫は御旗本におり、代々孫太郎又は孫右衛門と称した）。嫡子政弘は諸所を流浪していたが、権現様が遠州高天神に御出馬の際、大須賀五郎左衛門様の旗下に属して参戦し、城塀を乗り越える際に二発の玉（鉄砲の弾）で撃たれたが、命に別状はなかったという。
権現様が御旗本の近くにおられたため、これを御覧になって「誰であるか」とお尋ねになったので、五郎左衛門様が「孫右衛門と申します」と申し上げられると、「あの者を介抱せよ」と仰せになった。その後、五郎左衛門様が近藤武助という者に申し付けて、御刀を抜いて政弘の左の耳脇に留まっている弾を取り出されたところ、もう一つの弾は兜の内にあった。その時、五郎左衛門様が仰せになったのは「この刀は権現様より拝領の刀であるが、そなたの

He likewise participated in defensive battles. On the 25th day of the 12th month of Keichō 4 (1599), year of the Boar, he died of illness at the age of over seventy (his Buddhist name was Saikan Zentaku Koji, burial place unknown). At Masanao's deathbed, by imperial command, his second son Magoemon Masatsugu was ordered to succeed him (his descendants served as direct retainers of the shogun, and were called Magotarō or Magoemon through the generations). The eldest son Masahiro had been wandering in various places, but when Gongen-sama (Tokugawa Ieyasu) marched to Takatenjin in Tōtōmi Province, he joined under the banner of Ōsuka Gorozaemon-sama. When climbing over the castle walls, he was shot by two bullets but his life was not in danger.
Since Gongen-sama was near his direct retainers, he witnessed this and asked "Who is that?" When Gorozaemon-sama replied "His name is Magoemon," he said "Tend to that man." Afterwards, Gorozaemon-sama ordered someone called Kondō Busuke to draw his sword and remove the bullet lodged near Masahiro's left ear, whereupon they found another bullet inside his helmet.
