才気も有之昼夜不怠出生仕御調
法可仕者ニ候間遠俗被 仰付学問
専ら修行可致候尤相続之儀ハ猶

を仰せ付けられるべき旨を仰せ聞かされた件
一、同十年（1798年）二月 学問の才能が生来器用であり、才気もあって昼夜怠らず精進し、御調法を仕るべき者であるので、還俗を仰せ付けられ学問を専ら修行すべきこと。もっとも相続の件はなお御吟味もあるべき事であるので、俗体の件は修行中においてのみ心得るよう仰せ聞かされた件
一、同月 俗体にしていただいたことにより、長八と改名したい旨を願い出て許可された件
一、同年十二月 学問に傾倒し懈怠なく精進し格別に上達したことにより、稽古料として金二両ずつを下賜された件
一、同十二年（1800年）三月 開板方の論語正文の板下清書を仰せ付けられた件
一、享和元年（1801年）正月 学問に傾倒し精進し手際が優れているとの理由により、格別の訳をもってこれまでの稽古料二両を二人扶持に御振替えを下置かれた件

1. Second month of Kansei 10 (1798): Since he possessed natural talent in scholarship, had ability, and applied himself diligently day and night without negligence, being one who could serve usefully, he was ordered to return to secular life and concentrate on scholarly pursuits. However, since the matter of succession would still require further consideration, he was told to understand that the secular status applied only during his period of study.
1. Same month: Having been granted secular status, his petition to change his name to Chōhachi was approved.
1. Twelfth month of the same year: Due to his devotion to scholarship, diligent application without negligence, and exceptional progress, he was granted two ryō of gold as study allowance.
1. Third month of Kansei 12 (1800): He was ordered to make a clean copy for the printing blocks of the "Analects Standard Text" for the publishing department.
1. First month of Kyōwa 1 (1801): Due to his devotion to scholarship, diligent application, and excellent performance, as a special arrangement, his previous study allowance of two ryō was converted to a stipend of two-person support.
