　　痘神を祭る説について
痘神（天然痘の神）を祭ることは中国にもあるようで、『保嬰録』『留青集』等の書物に
記載されている。
日本でも古来より天然痘は鬼神の病気と称して痘神を祭ることが
専らであった。しかし、むやみに神のみを祭って薬治療を疎かにすることで
むやみに迷信に陥ることをするのは、まことに親不孝で不慈悲の極みである

　　On the Theory of Worshipping the Smallpox Deity
The practice of worshipping the smallpox deity appears to exist in China as well, as recorded in books such as the "Hōei-roku" (Record of Protecting Infants) and "Ryūsei-shū" (Collection of Flowing Blue).
In Japan too, since ancient times, smallpox has been called a disease of demons and spirits, and worshipping the smallpox deity has been the primary practice. However, to blindly worship only the deity while neglecting medical treatment, thereby falling into superstition, is truly the height of unfilial conduct and lack of compassion.
