- In the 10th month of Hōreki 10 (Year of the Dragon, 1760), as requested, his son Gihachirō was appointed as his substitute
- In the 12th month of Meiwa 3 (Year of the Dog, 1766), as requested, he was permitted to retire
- On the 13th day of the 4th month of An'ei 3 (Year of the Horse, 1774), he died of illness at the age of 79. His posthumous Buddhist name was Shōshin-in Gyōkan Koji. Burial place: same as above
