Yomiuri Shimbun, No. 100 Ofuji, the daughter of a rickshaw puller named Tomigorō of Sanya-bori in Asakusa, went out on an errand to the fields (tanbo) around Asakusa. On her way home in the evening she said she felt unwell — and before long stones began to be hurled repeatedly at her body. Yet the stones never struck the members of the household at all, and even when they did hit someone they caused no pain; and even when they struck plates and bowls, nothing broke. While everyone was saying, "How strange this is!", the girl fell into a trance and began raving all sorts of things. Thinking that perhaps a fox had possessed her, they had various prayers and exorcisms performed, whereupon she is said to have finally grown calm.
