三十一番　伊予簾　（六百介品）

○石寿いわく：形は簾介に似て、横縞の皺状の模様があり、網代目（編み目模様）は真蘇枋介に似ている。表面の地は茶褐色で、淡紫黒色・赤褐色・緑色の絞り綾模様が繁く、光沢があり美しい。斑紋の濃淡は一様ではない。裏面は清白色・水白色で、淡紫色の斑紋があり、光沢はない。大きさは四〜五分から二寸余りのものがある。諸国で産出するというが、伊予国の名産であるため、この名を付けたのであろう。武蔵国の浜川からも産出する。

三十二番　姫簾　（通称）　○スシワタシ（観文介譜）　○姫介（百介図）

○『貝尽浦の錦』にいわく：蛤類。「姫簾、歌仙の中に入る。すだれ介は網目あり、横にすだれ目は筋高くあり。この姫すだれは筋なく、ただ呼ぶに筋のごとくなるものありて小介なり。光りよく、やさしき介なり。」

○石寿いわく：形は簾介と異なることがない。表面の地は茶褐色、あるいは淡褐色で、褐色または紅褐色の網代文様がある。光沢があり美しい。裏面は淡紫色、あるいは清白色のものがある。大きさは四〜五分から二寸に至るものがあるという。未だ詳しくは知らないが、上品の殻である。愛でるべきものである。また、『貝尽浦の錦』にいわく：蛤類。「和歌の浦の名」とも。また『百貝図』に「姫貝」という。「歌仙介の中に入る。簾介は網目あり、横に簾目の筋が高くある。この姫簾は横筋が微細で、幽かに見える。小介にして大なるものは稀である。愛玩すべし。」牙合（かみ合わせは牙合いである）。

Entry 31: *Iyo-sudare* (Iyo Blind/Lattice Shell) — (Classified among the 600 Shell Varieties)

○ Sekiju states: The form resembles that of the *sudare-kai* (lattice shell), with transverse wrinkled ridges, and the woven-mat pattern (*ajiro-me*) resembles that of the *ma-suō-kai*. The surface is tea-brown in color, with dense twill patterns of light purple-black, red-brown, and green, giving it a lustrous, beautiful appearance. The mottled patterns vary in shade and are not uniform. The interior is pure white or water-white with light purple mottling, and lacks luster. The size ranges from four or five *bu* to over two *sun*. Although it is found in various provinces, it was given this name because it is a famous product of Iyo Province. It is also found at Hamagawa in Musashi Province.

Entry 32: *Hime-sudare* (Princess Lattice Shell) — (Common name) ○ *Sushiwatashi* (in *Kanmon Kaifu*) ○ *Hime-kai* (in *Hyakkei-zu*)

○ *Kaitsuкushi Ura no Nishiki* states: (Bivalve category.) "The *hime-sudare* belongs among the shell poems (*kasen*). The *sudare-kai* has a mesh pattern, and its lattice ridges run horizontally and are raised. This *hime-sudare* has no ridges as such, yet when you look closely there are faint rib-like markings; it is a small shell. It has a good luster and is a delicate, graceful shell."

○ Sekiju states: Its form is not different from that of the *sudare-kai*. The surface is tea-brown or light brown, with brown or red-brown woven-mat patterns. It is lustrous and beautiful. The interior may be light purple or pure white. Sizes ranging from four or five *bu* up to two *sun* are said to exist, though I have not yet confirmed this personally. It is a shell of high quality and worthy of admiration. Furthermore, *Kaitsukushi Ura no Nishiki* states: (Bivalve category.) It is also known by the name "Waka no Ura" (a poetic place name), and in *Hyakkei-zu* it is called *hime-gai* ("princess shell"). "It belongs among the poetically celebrated shells (*kasen-kai*). The *sudare-kai* has a mesh pattern with horizontally raised ridges, while this *hime-sudare* has extremely fine, barely visible transverse ridges. Large specimens are rare. It is worthy of being cherished." The valves are *kiba-ai* (ivory-type closure/dentition).
