本朝地震記（ほんちやうぢしんき） 全
此（この）書（しよ）は始（はじめ）に地震（ぢしん）の諸説（しよせつ）を挙（あ）け次（つぎ）に
神武（じんむ）天皇より以来（このかた）文政まて凡（およそ）二千五百年
余（よ）の間（あひだ）大地震（おほぢしん）の年月（ねんげつ）を記（しる）し且（かつ）文政｜寅年（とらどし）
七月の地震（じしん）の始末（しまつ）を記（しるし）たれば後世（こうせい）に残（のこ）し
おきて子孫（しそん）の心得（こゝろえ）にもなるべき書也
葉月（はづき）のはじめ庵（いほり）の柱（はしら）によりて宝暦（はうれき）の
いにしへの地（ぢ）なゐは其｜名残（なこり）もゝかまりと
きけば今（こ）たびもいかにや〳〵と我（われ）も人（ひと）も
おち畏（おそ）れしにわづか三十日（みそか）まりにてやく〳〵に

この書は始めに地震の諸説を挙げ、次に神武天皇より以来、文政まで凡そ二千五百年余りの間の大地震の年月を記し、且つ文政寅年七月の地震の始末を記したれば、後世に残しておいて子孫の心得にもなるべき書である。

Record of Earthquakes in Our Country (Honchō Jishinki) - Complete
This book first presents various theories about earthquakes, then records the years and months of major earthquakes from the time of Emperor Jinmu through the Bunsei era, spanning approximately 2,500 years. It also records the circumstances of the earthquake in the seventh month of the Bunsei Tiger Year (1830), thereby preserving this information for future generations to serve as guidance for descendants.
At the beginning of the eighth month, leaning against a pillar of the hermitage (composing a poem):
"I heard that the ancient earthquake of the Hōreki era left no lasting trace, but both I and others feared what this recent one might bring. Yet within merely thirty days or so, it became calm again - truly, this is due to the precious achievements of this great reign blessed with abundant waves on seas in all directions."
