一御城下町近年不景気ニ而年増

事御停止被為 仰付廓商

可申段在中江被為 仰付

一御城下町之義先年は重立候町会
御座候而上方筋其外諸国より御太物
類を初諸貸物諸職人之通具

一、御城下町は近年不景気で年々衰微し、特にこの二、三年は必至と行き詰まり、一同商売を続けることが困難で難儀を極めております。
然るところ、去る十一月に御憐愍の御書付を頂戴し、恐れ入り有り難い仕合せと存じます。
その上、在方（農村部）での廓商（行商）並びに質物を扱うことを御停止になされ、廓商をしている者は御城下町へ出て商売するよう在中へ仰せ付けられ、さらにこの間仰せ付けられました御書付の趣旨は重々冥加至極で有り難い仕合せと存じ、恐れ入っております。何卒出精いたし、御城下町が繁昌し、商売も続けられるよう仕度く、恐れながら箇条書きをもって願い上げ奉ります。

1. Our castle town has been experiencing poor economic conditions in recent years, declining year by year. Particularly in the past two or three years, we have reached a critical point of stagnation, and all of us are experiencing extreme hardship in continuing our trades and businesses.
Under these circumstances, last November we received Your Lordship's compassionate written directive, for which we are deeply grateful and consider ourselves most fortunate.
Furthermore, you prohibited peddling and pawnbroking in the rural areas, and ordered that those engaged in peddling should come to conduct business in the castle town, issuing directives to this effect throughout the countryside. The recent written directives you have issued are extremely beneficial and we consider ourselves most fortunate, for which we are deeply grateful. We humbly wish to work diligently so that the castle town may prosper and our businesses may continue. Therefore, we respectfully submit this petition in the form of itemized articles.
