現代語訳
村の村々は少し潰れ、篠根追分は全て潰れ、矢代川端は大きく割れ、矢代川の船渡しは無事であった。
矢代宿は七八軒潰れ、戸倉宿は無事、寂莫村は無事、横吹では山崩れのため下まで通行ができず、逆木宿は無事、塩尻では岩山が崩れて田畦を埋めて通行した。
上田御城の石垣が崩れたとの噂が通っている。その他の宿々は無事であった。小諸で松代様の御飛脚に聞いたところでは、御家中並びに町家共に七分通り潰れた様子。飯山様では御家中並びに町家が全て潰れ、その上焼失したとのこと。このような様子で、右の所々道筋が大きく割れて所々見ることができた。

三月二十四日夜四つ時の大地震で、当御預所大谷村地内が陥没崩落し、山々が鳴った。山は地震に等しく崩れ落ち、右の山下にあった田畑共々一同に押し出され、百姓家は土に埋まって五軒が皆潰れ、二軒が半潰れした。右の家内の者共五十九人（男三十二人、女二十七人）が死亡した。右のうち無事な家の者が潰れた家の方へ行っていて死んだ者、また潰れた家の家内の者が幸い他家へ行っていて助命した者があると見聞きした分は左の通りである。
一、百姓小左衛門という者の居宅は地震で一同に土に埋まって皆潰れ、家内は全て死んだが、同人の娘で当年九歳になる者が、庄屋茂左衛門の居宅（かなり離れたところにあった）の方まで土に押し送られて縁の下へ押し込まれた。茂左衛門の居宅は半潰れしたが、右の娘の押し込まれた方は格別の異常もなく助命した。
一、同じく六右衛門という者の妻が同村百姓伝蔵方に風呂を立てに行っていたところ、地震で六右衛門と裸のまま表へ駆け出したが、山崩れで土が押し来て肥前守へ

On the night of March 24th at the fourth hour, there was a great earthquake, and the land within Otani village of the current administrative territory collapsed and caved in, with the mountains roaring. The mountains collapsed equally due to the earthquake, and the rice fields below the mountains were all pushed out together. Peasant houses were buried in earth with five houses completely destroyed and two houses half-destroyed. Fifty-nine people from these households (thirty-two men, twenty-seven women) died. Among these, some people from undamaged houses died because they had gone to collapsed houses, while some people from collapsed houses were fortunately saved because they had gone to other houses. What I observed and heard is as follows:
1. A peasant named Kozaemon's residence was buried entirely in earth due to the earthquake and completely destroyed, with all household members perishing. However, his daughter, currently nine years old, was pushed by earth all the way to the residence of village headman Mozaemon (which was quite far away) and pushed under the veranda. Mozaemon's residence was half-destroyed, but the area where the girl was pushed had no particular damage and she survived.
