雲が散れば少しは心を休め、二日三日も滞留したら水も引くかと思って居たところ、また三日目に大水が起こり、先の水より一尺も高い。これは川上流の大洪水で、本当に気の毒なのは横河内という場所で、家の数なら僅か十四軒、末社を入れれば三十棟余り。人の数なら三十人で、横河内だけで十八人、加茂の尾原が二人と聞けば、ちょうど合わせて二十人。残る十人は古市場村である。ちょっと見なさい、三十人が

「わっ」と言う間に流されてしまい、強い牛さえ九頭も死んでしまった。死ぬはずだよ、その場を見れば。細い谷から出てくる水は、毬のように小石を散らし、矢よりも早く流れてくるのは一丈五尺の激流であるから、逃げる間もなく「それ」と言う間にそのまま流され、右と左に二人の子供を掴みながら身を持ちこたえようとすれば、次第次第に一緒に流されて、どうやって子供を助けよう（と思案する）。

When the clouds scattered, they rested their hearts a little, thinking that if they stayed for two or three days the water might recede. However, on the third day another great flood occurred, one foot higher than the previous water. This was a major flood from upstream, and what was truly pitiful was the place called Yokogawachi, where there were only fourteen houses, or about thirty buildings including small shrines. As for the number of people, there were thirty in total: eighteen from Yokogawachi alone, and two from Ono-hara in Kamo, making exactly twenty people. The remaining ten were from Furuichiba village.
