仕廻ふて難義は多し家の絶（たへ）たる所も
あるぞ家は有ても文之助主しなして跡たゝず
家内無事ても田地を仕まひ扨も様〳〵難儀
おするす元を問（とう）なら皆（みな）／欲（よく）心にすひ人さへな
さらぬ事を高ひ験担の山々受てならぬ所に
大池水の細田／拵（こしら）へて設（もう）けはよひが男水さへ
替らぬとこへ池の普請はまた六七年に
なるかならぬに三拾人がそりやと言間に死ん

終わってしまって難儀はしないが、家が絶えてしまった所もある。家はあっても文之助が主人でなくなって跡が絶えてしまった。家内が無事でも田地を失い、様々な難儀が降りかかる。元を回らなければ、皆欲心に吸い込まれ、人さえもいなくなってしまう。そのような無謀なことを高く評価し、験胆を受けてはならない所に、大池の水で細田を作って設け、良いが男の水さえも変わらない所へ、池の普請はまた六七年になるかならないのに、三十人がそれやと言う間に死んでしまった。そうではないか。とにかく当世の新法事には利口でなくても抜け道があるぞ。跡をきちんとしなさい。

Though some finished without great hardship, there are places where entire households were extinguished. Even where houses remain, with Bunnosuke no longer the master, the family line has ended. Even when family members survived unharmed, they lost their fields and various hardships befell them. Unless one can recover the foundation, everyone gets drawn into greed and even people themselves disappear. In places where such reckless things should not be highly valued and where such dangerous ventures should not be undertaken, they constructed narrow fields with water from the large pond. Though the water for irrigation remained unchanged, the pond construction had been going on for only six or seven years when thirty people died in the blink of an eye saying "that's it."
