村も山や田地のめけたる事は言に言れぬ
大めけします流れ出まして安江の土手や
頃も相（あひ）／生（おい）四拾瀬土手もとつと一度に大きれし
ます絵（ゑ）／図（ず）に書たる町村〳〵へさつと突込む
其勢ひは山／崩（くず）るる音よりひとゐ何にたとへぬ
大／雷（かみなり）もとふで及わぬ此水音にやそりやと
言やる真白けなる弐丈計の水玉くれば
粒江粒浦倉敷始め天城藤戸茶屋町

も有ぞ多ひ事なら筆てはかけぬ元を
現代語訳
村も山や田地が水浸しになったことは言葉では言い表せないほどの大水害をします。流れ出してしまい、安口の筆耕や頃も相生、四十願筆もすっかり一度に大きく回転してしまいます。絵図に描かれた町村々へさっと突き込む、その勢いは山が崩れる音よりもひどく、何にもたとえようのない大雷でも到底及ばないこの水音に、やそれやと言いながら、真っ白になる二丈ばかりの水玉がくれば、程江・程浦・倉敷をはじめ、天城・藤戸・茶屋町なども帯江・早島・三島や姉尾・二子・幸田・上悦・山田、これらの村々は高い所は山の上、低い所は果てしなく、水が来れば狼狽え騒ぎ、男女の若いのも老いたのも残らず、婆さんはお孫の手を引きながら逃げる足元、長雨なのでよく滑り転んで走ることもできない。いがいがしながらも金田の山を一つ目がけて逃げていく人は、食べることも飲むこともできずに月日を送る。川に妨げられて死んだ者もたくさんいる。多いことなので筆では書ききれない。
英語訳
The flooding of villages, mountains, and rice fields caused indescribable great flood damage. The waters flowed out, and Yasuguchi's scribes, Koro, and Aioi, along with the forty petition scribes, all got swept around greatly at once. The flood waters suddenly rushed into the towns and villages depicted in maps and drawings. The force was more terrible than the sound of mountains collapsing, and even the greatest thunder could not compare to this sound of water. As people cried out "that's it!" white water balls about two jō (approximately 6 meters) high came rushing in.
Hodoe, Hodoura, Kurashiki, as well as Amagi, Fujito, Chayamachi, Obie, Hayashima, Mishima, Aneo, Futago, Kōda, Jōetsu, and Yamada - in these villages, the high places were on mountaintops while the low places were endless. When the water came, everyone was thrown into confusion and panic. Young and old, men and women alike, with no exceptions - grandmothers fled pulling their grandchildren by the hand. With the long rains, the ground was slippery and people fell, unable to run properly. Though struggling painfully, people aimed for Mount Kanada as they fled, spending days without eating or drinking. Many died, blocked by the rivers. There were so many that they cannot all be recorded with the brush.
