先代加藤新兵衛義文政五
午年貴殿方ゟ借用金相嵩
候ニ付藤屋鑑吉殿金屋吉兵衛殿

同何年同人義致死去候以来相続人

差し出し申す一札の事
先代加藤新兵衛は文政五年午年に貴殿方より借用金が嵩んだため、藤屋鑑吉殿、金屋吉兵衛殿にお取り計らいいただき、所持の屋敷を質物として差し入れ、五ヶ年賦済みと定めたところ、同年同人は死去し、相続人がいないため暫く中役が相務めることとなりました。去る天保五年午年に類焼いたしましたが、貴殿方では普請もできかねるとのことで、ご町内へお差し出しになったとのこと。よって町内の役人中でご相談の上、家作の普請を申し付けてくださり、有難く存じ奉ります。
私ども右新兵衛の跡式を相続し、先代新兵衛と同様に相勤め申しております。
よって山屋伊藤治左衛門殿、池上吉兵衛殿にお願い申し上げ、右借財の件につき段々とご無心申し入れたところ、年来のことにつき格別のお思し召しで、ご両人でお取り計らいいただき、借用金高を天王宮へご奉納くださいました。そして新兵衛の印紙をお戻しくださり、有難く存じ奉ります。よって右のご証として永代において

Document of Submission
The predecessor Katō Shinbei, in the 5th year of Bunsei, year of the Horse, had accumulated debts from your side, so through the mediation of Mr. Fujiya Kankichi and Mr. Kanaya Kichibei, he pledged his property as collateral and arranged for repayment in five annual installments. However, in the same year, the same person died, and since there was no successor, a temporary administrator took charge for a while. In the 5th year of Tenpō, year of the Horse, the property was destroyed by fire, but since your side could not afford the reconstruction, it was reportedly transferred to the town. Therefore, after consultation among the town officials, they graciously undertook the house construction, for which we are deeply grateful.
We have succeeded to the aforementioned Shinbei's position and have been serving in the same manner as our predecessor Shinbei.
Therefore, we petitioned Mr. Yamaya Itō Jizaemon and Mr. Ikegami Kichibei regarding the aforementioned debt, making repeated requests for assistance. Due to their special consideration for this long-standing matter, both gentlemen arranged to donate the amount of the borrowed money to Tennō Shrine and graciously returned Shinbei's sealed document, for which we are deeply grateful.
