御取揚に不及御定に候処此間右体之願申達候族有之候依之弥右体之格違之
縁組以来願申上候而も御取上不被成候尤由緒も有之無拠品に而相願候歟又は後
妻に相願候者其節御吟味之上願之通被仰付儀も可有之候右之趣寄々可申伝旨

に付御鵜餌飼にも相障申事に候其上若御鵜へも相障候而はいかゝ之儀に候間向後
御鵜共餌飼に罷出候様子見請候はゝ其近所致川狩候儀致遠慮候様寄々可申
伝旨に候尤自今右之通候間面々家来末々之者に至迄其段急度御申付可有

但御家老中方知申候は覚書に致候触状廻上に月番名元相調壱軒ツヽ為
相触本多内蔵助方へは留守居相招申聞之月番中脇十郎左衛門

◯近年病犬時屯候に付最前相触候趣も有之其後人々心懸病犬打殺申由に候
得共猶又此間病犬不絶有之旨に候間病犬之様に相見候はゝ捨犬は不及申

【右丁】
◯手紙をもって申し達します。御家中の侍の縁組の願いについて、小役人格の者の娘を侍の妻として縁組することを願い出ても、取り上げるに及ばないとの定めがあります。ところが、最近このような（格違いの）願いを申し出る者がおります。よって、今後もこのような格の違う縁組について願い出ても、お取り上げにはなりません。ただし、由緒がありやむを得ない事情で願い出る場合、あるいは後妻として願い出る場合は、その際にご吟味の上、願いの通りに仰せ付けられることもあるでしょう。この趣旨を各組内にお伝えくださるよう、御家老中からの仰せでありますので、そのようにご承知おきください。以上。 閏七月二十六日

追って、仲間内へもこの趣旨をお伝えください。以上。
右は役番外以下、月番の面々へ達したものです。尤も、御留守居・御書院番頭・大御番頭へは手紙をもって申し達しました。新番頭へは申し達しませんでした。
（注記） 去る二十一日の評定において、恒岡安左衛門の番組の小林忠蔵が、小役人吉羽加太夫の娘を嫁に迎えたい旨の願書および口上書を差し出したところ、同二十五日に格違いのゆえ取り上げるに及ばないとして書付が返却されました。
口上にて各組へ申し送りの覚
◯近頃、江戸表に毒虫が出たとのことです。その虫は鳳仙花（ほうせんか）の根から生じるとのことで、鳳仙花を取り捨てているとのことです。よって、面々の屋敷内に鳳仙花がある場合は取り捨ててください。この趣旨を各組内にお伝えするようにとのことですので、

八月十五日
◯手紙をもって申し達します。御鵜（おう）共の餌飼いに川筋へ出る際、川狩りをする面々が御鵜の先を心がけて（鵜の前方で魚を追う）ことで、御鵜の餌飼いにも差し障りが生じています。その上、もし御鵜に害が及んでも困ることですので、今後、御鵜が餌飼いに出ている様子を見かけましたら、その近所での川狩りは遠慮するよう、各組内にお伝えください。自今以降この通りですので、面々の家来末々の者に至るまで、急度申し付けてください。この趣旨をそれぞれお伝えください。以上。
八月二十二日 追って組支配へ～
右の趣旨をお伝えするよう仰せ出されましたので、覚書に認め、ご覧に入れ、御家老中へも達し、それぞれへ手紙をもって申し達しました。
但し、御家老中方が知られたことについては、覚書にして触れ状を回す際に、月番の名元を調えて一軒ずつ触れさせ、本多内蔵助方へは留守居を招き申し聞かせました。月番 中脇十郎左衛門

◯近年病犬が多くおりましたので、以前にも触れ出した趣があります。その後、人々が心がけて病犬を打ち殺してきたとのことですが、また最近、病犬が絶えずおるとのことです。病犬のように見受けられるものは、捨て犬は申すまでもなく（以下次丁へ続く）

◯ I hereby notify you by letter. Regarding petitions from samurai retainers for marriage arrangements: it has been established that petitions for marriages between daughters of lower-ranking officials (ko-yakunin-kaku) and samurai wives shall not be accepted. However, we have recently seen individuals submitting such petitions. Therefore, going forward, petitions for such marriages that cross rank boundaries will not be accepted. However, if there are petitions based on established lineage or unavoidable circumstances, or petitions for a second wife, they may be reviewed and granted upon examination. The Senior Elders (Go-karō-chū) have instructed that this be communicated throughout each unit, so please take note accordingly. Respectfully. Intercalary 7th Month, 26th Day.

The above was communicated to the monthly-duty officers (月番) and below, outside the regular duty roster. Furthermore, it was communicated by letter to the Go-rusuī (estate steward), Go-shoin-bangashira (chamberlain commanders), and Ō-go-bangashira (senior guard commanders). It was not communicated to the Shin-bangashira (new guard commanders).
(Note) At the council meeting (hyōjō) held on the 21st, Kobayashi Chūzō from Tsuneoka Anzaemon's unit submitted a written petition and oral statement expressing his wish to take the daughter of lower official Yoshiwa Kadayū as his wife. On the 25th, the petition was returned with the notice that it could not be accepted due to rank disparity.
Notice Transmitted Verbally to Each Unit
◯ It has been reported that poisonous insects have recently appeared in Edo. As these insects are said to emerge from the roots of balsam flowers (hōsenkа, Impatiens balsamina), people have been removing the plants. Therefore, if balsam flowers are found within your residence grounds, please remove them. As the instruction is to convey this to each unit,

◯ I hereby notify you by letter. When the cormorants (御鵜) are taken to the riverbanks to be fed, those conducting river fishing (kawakarı) are positioning themselves ahead of the cormorants, thereby interfering with the cormorants' feeding. Moreover, should harm come to the cormorants, it would be most problematic. Therefore, from now on, if anyone observes the cormorants being taken out for feeding, they should refrain from fishing in the vicinity. Please convey this throughout each unit. This rule applies from this point forward, so please give strict instructions to all retainers and their subordinates down to the lowest ranks. Please convey this to each party. Respectfully.

As the above instruction was issued, it was recorded in a memorandum, reviewed, reported to the Senior Elders (Go-karō-chū), and communicated to each party by letter.
Note: Regarding what the Senior Elders were informed of, a memorandum was prepared, and as the notice was circulated, the names of the monthly-duty officers were recorded and the notice was delivered house by house.
