江戸にて六月七日、粕帯刀方（かすおびかたほう）よりお申し聞かせになったことには、先月公儀より仰せ出された火事装束（かじしょうぞく）の件について口達するようにとのことでした。その節の内容としては、第一に頭中（かしらじゅう）の件についてお申し聞かせがあり、ここで改めてまた夏の火事羽織において面々が凝り過ぎることについて、かねてよりお申し聞かせの通り、目立った装束はもとよりのこと、襟に金入りの類を付けることは一切まかりならないとのお申し聞かせがありましたので、左の通り口達書を差し出します。
口達
◯火事羽織・装束の件について、以前口達しましたが、なおも夏の火事羽織の襟に金入りの類を付けることも無用です。ただし、胸当・石帯・馬乗り留の類で、地を羅紗（らしゃ）・猩々緋（しょうじょうひ）として金入りの装飾を模様として付けたものは差し支えありません。また、馬乗り留・胸当などに多少の凝り（物数奇）は格別として、特別に目立つ模様はまかりなりません。総じて、金入りを地（地の布地）として用いることは、以後決して無用と仰せ出されましたので、右の趣旨をご承知おきください。以上。
六月七日 各中 追って組へ～ 目付中
今度、新たに召し抱えた御足軽について帳面に記載された者を召集し、吟味を遂げて九十人を定め申し渡した覚え。

Respectfully.

Addendum: If there are those who shall be made to serve in this capacity, please instruct them to bring their names in writing by tomorrow. Respectfully.

In Edo, on the 7th day of the 6th month, Kasu Obitō-kata communicated the following: regarding the fire-fighting attire (火事装束) that was previously ordered by the shogunate last month, they requested that an oral communication be issued. On that occasion, matters pertaining to the unit commanders (頭中) were communicated first, and now, once again regarding the summer fire-fighting jackets (夏火事羽織), since some individuals have been making them overly elaborate, and as has been communicated previously, ostentatious attire is strictly prohibited — in particular, attaching gold-embroidered materials to collars is absolutely forbidden. Therefore, the following oral communication is hereby issued:
Oral Communication (口達)
◯Regarding fire-fighting jackets (火事羽織) and attire: as was communicated previously, affixing gold-embroidered materials and the like to the collars of summer fire-fighting jackets is also hereby prohibited. However, chest guards (胸当), stone sashes (石帯), and riding cords (馬乗留) made of base materials such as woolen cloth (羅紗) or scarlet fabric (猩々緋), with gold embroidery applied as decorative patterns, are permissible. Furthermore, a modest degree of ornamentation on riding cords and chest guards is acceptable as an exception, but conspicuously extravagant patterns are not permitted. In general, the use of gold embroidery as the primary fabric (ground cloth) of a garment is henceforth absolutely prohibited by order. Please take thorough note of the above. Respectfully.
