乾坤（てんち）和順（わじゆん）、ならざるときハ地中（ちちう）に陰（いん）滞（とヾこほ）りて時（とき）をもつて發（はつ）す是（これ）則（すなわち）
地震（ぢしん）なり山に｜崩起（おこる）ときは｜洞（ほら）といひ｜海（かい）中にはつする時は｜津浪（つなみ）といふ又｜雷（らい）
｜鳴（めい）もこれに｜同（おな）じとかやかゝる｜天災（てんさい）を｜防（ふせ）がん｜事（こと）は｜智（ち）のおよばさる所にして
｜積善（せきせん）の｜余慶（よけい）にあらざれは｜脱（まぬ）かるゝこと｜難（かた）かるべし人〻よく｜善根（ぜんごん）を｜高（たか）く
つみて｜要心（えふじん）の楯（たて）としたまふべし｜其故（そのゆゑ）は火災（くわさひ）をのがるべき土蔵（どざふ）は地震（ぢしん）の為（ため）に

現代語訳
天地の和順がならざる時は、地中に陰気が滞って時を経て発生する。これがすなわち地震である。山に起こる時は山崩れといい、海中に発生する時は津波という。また雷鳴もこれと同じであるという。このような天災を防ぐことは人知の及ばない所であり、善行を積んだ余慶がなければ免れることは難しいであろう。人々はよく善根を高く積んで、用心の盾としなさい。その理由は、火災を逃れるべき土蔵は地震のために崩れ、また地震の時に逃げ入るべき家を作っておいても火のために焼けて地震の避難所にならない。これは人々の幸不幸によるとはいえ、結局は善不善の違いにある。常に行いを慎む時は、その身も家も害を受けることはないであろう。ただ地面が揺れる時に恐れるばかりではなく、常々心得ておくべきである。
さて、また大いに震えた後、毎日昼夜を問わず小さく揺れるのは、鐘の響きがいつまでも響くようなものであって、最初のように強くはない。昔からどこの地震もこのようであると言い伝えられている。世の人は必ずこれを恐れ、長く野宿などをすべきではない。病気を発して害となるからである。

When the harmony between heaven and earth is disturbed, negative energy stagnates underground and erupts after some time. This is what we call an earthquake. When it occurs in mountains, it is called a landslide, and when it happens in the sea, it is called a tsunami. Thunder is said to be of the same nature. Preventing such natural disasters is beyond human wisdom, and it would be difficult to escape them without the blessed consequences of accumulated good deeds. People should accumulate good karma and use prudence as their shield. The reason is that earthen storehouses built to escape fires collapse due to earthquakes, and houses prepared as earthquake shelters burn in fires and cannot serve as earthquake refuges. While this may depend on people's fortune or misfortune, ultimately it comes down to the difference between good and evil deeds. When one is always careful in conduct, neither body nor home will suffer harm. One should not merely fear when the ground shakes, but should always be prepared.
Furthermore, after a major earthquake, the daily tremors that occur day and night are like the lingering resonance of a bell, not as strong as the initial quake. It has been said since ancient times that earthquakes everywhere are like this. People inevitably fear this and should not sleep outdoors for extended periods, as it causes illness and harm.
