国を開き給ふ是天神七代より奉抑御神なり
于＿レ足人王七代孝霊天王の御宇辛末の年
に近江国地さけて一夜の中に湖水与なり同時に
富（フ）士山生ずといふ其外天変不思議なる事
数るに石＿レ遑（イトマ）爰に信州浅間は嶽上持統天皇の
九年丙申年ノ役（ヱン）の行者此山江登給ふ東北の山
中に柳井有足に黒蛇居て毒水をはき行者｜怪（アヤシミ）て本
尊に祈誓し利剣【釼】を以て足を助くそれゟ峯に至り
岩石を平げ自（ミ）ら草庵を構ひ勤（ゴン）行す鬼類来て
ひざまづき福満虚空蔵昼夜当獲せり西北の方
むけんの谷南方に剣の峯北に鬼の岩屋東に遠見坂
金亀岩山は神変無明の山｜外（そと）が浜内か浜あり
其後久しく登ル人なき処弘安四年六月九日の

国を開かれた。これは天神七代より崇め奉る御神である。
人皇七代・孝霊天皇の御代、辛未の年に、近江国の地が裂けて、一夜のうちに湖水（琵琶湖）となり、同時に富士山が生じたという。その他にも天変不思議なことは数えるに暇がない。ここに信州浅間嶽については、持統天皇の九年・丙申年に、役（えん）の行者がこの山に登られた。東北の山中に柳井があり、足元に黒蛇がいて毒水を吐いていた。行者はこれを怪しんで本尊に祈誓し、利剣をもって（蛇の）足を助けた。それより峯に至り、岩石を平らにして自ら草庵を構え、勤行された。鬼類が来てひざまずき、福満虚空蔵菩薩が昼夜当獲（とうかく）された。西北の方には無間の谷、南方に剣の峯、北に鬼の岩屋、東に遠見坂があり、金亀岩山は神変無明の山で、外が浜・内が浜がある。

[The gods] opened the land. These are the divine deities venerated since the Seven Generations of Heavenly Gods.
During the reign of Kōrei, the seventh human Emperor, in the year of Kanoto-Hitsuji (辛未), the earth of Ōmi Province split open, and overnight became a lake (Lake Biwa), while simultaneously Mount Fuji is said to have arisen. Beyond this, there are countless other heavenly wonders and mysterious occurrences. Regarding Mount Asama in Shinano Province: in the ninth year of Empress Jitō's reign, the year of Hinoe-Saru (丙申), the ascetic En no Gyōja climbed this mountain. In the mountains to the northeast there was a spring called Yanai, where a black serpent dwelt at its base, spitting poisonous water. The ascetic found this strange and made a vow of prayer to the principal deity, using a sharp sword to free (the serpent's) legs. From there he reached the peak, leveled the rocks, built a hermitage for himself, and performed his austerities. Demons came and knelt before him, and Fukuman Kokūzō Bodhisattva manifested day and night. To the northwest lies the Valley of Mugen (Endless Suffering), to the south the Peak of Swords, to the north the Demon's Cave, and to the east Tōmi-zaka (Far-View Slope). Kinkiganzan (Golden Turtle Rock Mountain) is a mountain of divine transformation and primal darkness, with an Outer Shore and an Inner Shore.
