一、弘化三年丙午正月十五日、未の中刻（午後二時頃）に本郷丸山より出火し、折しも西北の風が激しく吹いており、大火となった。翌十六日、申の刻（午後四時頃）に京橋のほとりにてようやく鎮火した。このことを慎むべきことである。
わずかな煙草の火のくすぶりであっても十分に気をつけ、必ずみだりに火の元を粗末にしてはならない。火の元を大切に守ることが肝要である。太平の世のご恩恵を、決して忘れるべきではない。

一、上様（将軍）より、被災された諸人をお助けするため、御救小屋を三か所に設けてくださり、昼夜を問わず食べ物を下し置かれた。誠にもって莫大なるご高恩、有り難いことこの上ない。

Item 1: On the 15th day of the 1st month of Kōka 3 (1846), the year of Hinoe-Uma, at around the middle of the Hitsuji hour (approximately 2:00 PM), a fire broke out from Maruya­ma in Hongō. At the time, a fierce northwest wind was blowing, causing the fire to spread into a great conflagration. The fire was finally extinguished near Kyōbashi on the following day, the 16th, at the Saru hour (approximately 4:00 PM). This is a matter deserving the utmost caution.
Even the smallest smoldering tobacco ember must be handled with great care; one must never be negligent with fire. Guarding against fire diligently is of the utmost importance. The blessings of this peaceful age must never be forgotten.

Item 2: By the order of the Lord (the Shogun), relief shelters were established at three locations for the assistance of all those affected, and food was distributed both day and night. This is truly an immeasurable act of great benevolence, for which we are deeply grateful.

Nihonbashi Yoka-ichi, Hatchōbori, Matsuyachō, and Kanda Sakuma-chō
