可申儀ニ御座候得共手延ニ罷成候則先年松田又兵衛殿
御支配下戸谷村生柳庄右衛門与申者福井城下町端ニ
罷在乞食之所江夜盗ニ入右戸谷村ニ隠罷在候を
足軽共差遣搦取戸谷村ニ預置追而又兵衛殿江御断
申彼者引取申候同類戸谷村百姓之内ニ有之又兵衛殿
御吟味之上ニ而委細相知レ御仕置ニ被仰付候依之自今
以後右之族有之節何方ニ而も捕置其以後御支配方江

（前頁より続き）申すべきことではあるが、手延べ（手間取ること）になる場合もある。すなわち、先年、松田又兵衛殿の御支配下の戸谷村の生柳庄右衛門と申す者が、福井城下の町外れにある乞食小屋へ夜盗に入り、その後、右の戸谷村に隠れ潜んでいたところを、足軽どもを差し遣わして搦め捕り、戸谷村に預け置き、追って又兵衛殿へお断りを申し上げた上で、その者を引き取った。同類が戸谷村の百姓の内にもおり、又兵衛殿の御吟味の上で、詳細が明らかになり、お仕置きを仰せ付けられた。これにより、自今以後、右のような族（やから）がある節は、いずこにおいても捕らえ置き、その後に御支配方へ申し達すべき旨、最前（以前）に御勤めなされた御代官中ならびに他領へも申し談じたので、左様にご心得置きくださるべく候。
一、九月十八日、箱根御関所において御家来が通行する儀につき、御屋敷奉行・大久保理助（判鑑はこれまで差し出し置いた）のところ、この度、岩佐長左衛門が御屋敷奉行を仰せ付けられたため、大久保出羽守（忠興）殿（相州小田原）の家老まで、左の通り長左衛門の判鑑と引き替えるよう、御家老より大御番士をもって差し遣わした。

(Continued from previous page) ...this would be the proper procedure, but there are cases where matters become drawn out and delayed. Namely, in a previous year, a man named Oyagi Shōemon from Toya Village, under the administration of Matsuda Matabei-dono, broke into a beggar's shelter at the outskirts of Fukui castle town to commit burglary, and was afterward hiding in said Toya Village. Foot soldiers (ashigaru) were dispatched to apprehend him, and he was placed in the custody of Toya Village. After subsequently notifying Matabei-dono of this action, the man was taken into custody. Accomplices were also found among the peasants of Toya Village, and following Matabei-dono's investigation, the full details came to light and punishments were duly ordered. On account of this precedent, from this time forward, when such persons are encountered, they are to be apprehended wherever found, and the supervising authority (go-shihaigata) is to be notified thereafter. This arrangement has been communicated to all previously serving daikan (administrators) as well as to other domains, so please bear this in mind accordingly.
Item: On the 18th day of the 9th month, regarding the matter of retainers passing through the Hakone Barrier (Hakone Gosekisho), the official seal (hankan) of the mansion administrator (o-yashiki bugyō) Ōkubo Risuke had previously been submitted for this purpose. However, as Iwasa Chōzaemon has now been appointed as mansion administrator, a large guard (ō-obanyashi) was dispatched on behalf of the chief elder (karō) to the chief elder of Lord Ōkubo Dewa-no-Kami (Tadaoki)-dono (of Odawara in Sagami Province), to exchange the existing seal for one bearing Chōzaemon's name, as follows:
