One item: On the 22nd, by order of the Kyoto Shoshidai, three of their yoriki (officers) arrived in Osaka in full armor. They remained stationed in the city, and personnel also came from Fushimi to assess the situation. The two bangashira (guard commanders) handed over their weapons and equipment as they were.
One item: On the morning of the 23rd, the Sakura Gate guardhouse was transferred back from the Suganuma unit, and things settled down for the time being. However, matters did not proceed as hoped; due to a shortage of personnel in both units, there were insufficient hands to conduct unexpected patrols of the two guardhouses, causing no small amount of concern. From the Hour of the Snake (around 10 a.m.) on the 19th through to the 22nd, all personnel had been on continuous duty without relief, and additional overnight staff had been called in.
One item: Regarding the areas that burned: the entirety of Tenma and Tenjin were burned; to the west, the fire stopped at Horikawa; to the east, it stopped at Kawasaki. In the Tenjin and Ochihachikenjaya areas, in Uemachi, the fire extended from Banchō in the east to Higashihori in the west, from Honmachi in the south to Hachikenjaya riverside in the north — everything burned without exception. In the remaining Senba district under both town magistrates' jurisdictions, the fire burned from the riverside in the north to Azuchi-machi in the south, from Namba-bashi-suji in the west to Higashihori in the east — all without exception. In an instant, it was said to have exceeded what three major Tenma fires combined would have caused.
**[Left Page]**
One item: It is reported that the gold storehouse, rice storehouse, and many female servants of the Kōnoike merchant house were stabbed with coins (used as weapons). Twelve warehouse frontages at Hachikenjaya and Kyōzō collapsed; guns were fired at the residence of Owari-ya Shichibe'e in Shimamachi, with the warning "Flee if you value your lives," and the warehouses and their contents burned entirely without any being saved.
One item: It was the first time since the Genna era that one witnessed the state of an armed disturbance and battle formation, viewed for the first time through the arrow-slits of the fortifications.

**Receipt of Acknowledgment (御請書)**
Regarding the full account of the disturbance at Osaka: as a comprehensive investigation cannot be completed all at once, please report promptly as further details become known, regardless of how many times or how rough the paper and format of your reports may be. Furthermore, it has been ordered that each local magistrate (daikan) be informed by express messenger to investigate further, collect, and submit the scattered ten-mon coins (distributed by the rebels), and this order has been duly received and acknowledged.
