困窮している者がいれば調べて知らせるようにと平八郎が申し聞かせたので、先日施しを受けた者以外にも、できる限り取り続けて（面倒を見て）いる旨を答えて帰宅した。その折、沢上において村の与一右衛門が居合わせていた旨を申し立てたので、外出差し留めを申し付け置いた。
以上は、当月十九日に大坂町奉行元組与力・大塩平八郎の一味の者どもが申し合わせて徒党を組み、町奉行の与力・同心、天満の組屋敷、ならびに市中の人家などに火を放ち、乱暴に及んで逃げ去ったことにつき、手配を行い、一味ならびに関係した者どもを書面のとおり召し捕り、手当（措置）を申し付け置いた。ついては、当地の町奉行所と掛け合い、一同を引き渡すよう取り計らうつもりである。追って召し捕られ、あるいは自滅した者もある由に相聞こえるが、残党の者について召し捕りの手配中である。よって、この段を申し上げる。以上。

大坂町奉行元組与力・大塩平八郎を頭取として徒党を結び、当月十九日朝五つ時過ぎに、町奉行の与力・同心、天満の組屋敷、ならびに市中へ、火矢ならびに鉄砲を打ち立て乱暴に及んだ始末を、左に申し上げる。
一、大塩平八郎は、当酉年において四十五、六歳になり、学問・武術ともに相応に修め、勤めていた頃は重い役目を相勤め、既に先年、大坂表の切支丹一件（キリシタン事件）の吟味取扱いを当地において……

[Ōshio] Heihachirō had told [Matsunosuke] that if there were any further destitute people [in need], he should investigate and report back. Matsunosuke replied that he would continue to look after those beyond the ones who had already received charity as much as possible, and then returned home. He stated that on that occasion, a certain Yoichiemon from the village had been present at Sawaue. He was accordingly ordered to be prohibited from leaving [his residence].
The foregoing concerns the fact that on the 19th of this month, Ōshio Heihachirō, a former kumigashira yoriki [senior mounted constable] of the Osaka Town Magistracy, and his confederates conspired together, formed a faction, set fire to the residences of the Town Magistracy's yoriki and dōshin, the Tenma compound, and residences throughout the city, committed acts of violence, and fled. Accordingly, a manhunt was conducted, and the confederates and those implicated have been arrested and dealt with as described in this document. Arrangements will be made to confer with the Town Magistracy here and hand over all [the prisoners]. It is reported that there are those who have since been arrested or who have killed themselves, but a manhunt for remaining members of the faction is currently underway. **A written report regarding the riot committed by the conspirators in Osaka**
Ōshio Heihachirō, a former kumigashira yoriki of the Osaka Town Magistracy, formed a band of conspirators under his leadership, and on the morning of the 19th of this month, past the Hour of the Ox [approximately 6 a.m.], launched fire arrows and fired guns at the residences of the Town Magistracy's yoriki and dōshin, the Tenma compound, and throughout the city, committing acts of violence. The full account of these events is set out below.
