　私（拙者）の先祖は、小梁川中務太輔盛宗の代より小梁川を称してきたが、高祖父・小梁川泥蟠の代から何代目より御知行を拝領し始めたか、言い伝えを承っておりません。

　祖父・同氏刑部義は、知行高八十貫文でございました。病死し、跡式（家督相続）は滞りなく、亡父・同氏中務に下し置かれました。その後、江刺郡野手崎村の御境目（国境・領境付近）へ派遣されたことにより、二十貫文の御加増を拝領いたしました。さらに、義山様（伊達忠宗公）の御代、寛永年中（1624〜1644年）の総御検地の際、御竿出し（検地実施）の目代（代官）として二十貫文の知行高を下し置かれました。あわせて、野手崎村知行地に続く野谷地新田の起目（新たに開発された土地）への御竿入れ（検地）により、代高十七貫九十四文の所を、万治三年（1660年）二月十日に下され、本地合わせて百三十七貫九十四文の高となりました。

　寛文十年（1670年）十月、中務（亡父）に隠居を仰せ付けられ、右の知行高を相違なく私（拙者）に下し置かれる旨、同年十月二十六日に江戸において原田甲斐を通じて仰せ渡されました。さらに、私に御奉行職を仰せ付けられる旨、江戸より御使者として天野孫大夫・姉羽八郎右衛門が差し下され、寛文十二年（1672年）十二月四日に、故・古内志摩宅において右両人が引き添い、志摩より申し渡されました。

　延宝三年（1675年）五月〔十一月〕、御前へ召し出され、美濃守様並びに御老中様へ御相談の上、御役料知行に直接下し置かれる旨、御直接に仰せ渡され、本地合わせて〔某〕高となりました。

　また、野手崎村知行所に続く野谷地新田の起目への御竿入れにより、代高十貫〆六百五十七文の所を、延宝三年（1675年）十一月二十三日に下され、同五年（1677年）三月二十一日に、右同村知行地続きの野谷地新田の起目への御竿入れにより、代高百七十六文の所を下し置かれ、当時（現在）の都合〔総計〕の所を拝領仕り候。　以上。

【Yanagawa Date Family Document　3-2-1-2-1】

My ancestors have used the name Koyanagawa since the time of Koyanagawa Nakatsukasa-taifu Morimune. However, I have not received any oral tradition regarding from which generation of my great-great-grandfather Koyanagawa Deiban onward the family began receiving a domain stipend (chigyō).

My grandfather, of the same clan, Gyōbu Yoshiwa, held a stipend of eighty kan-mon. Upon his death from illness, the family succession (atoshiki) proceeded without incident, and the stipend was granted to my late father, of the same clan, Nakatsukasa. Subsequently, as my father was dispatched to the border area of Natesaki Village in Esashi District, an additional stipend of twenty kan-mon was granted. Furthermore, during the general land survey (sō-kenchi) in the Kan'ei era (1624–1644) under the lordship of Gizansamа (Lord Date Tadamune), he was appointed as a deputy inspector (moshiro) for the survey and received an additional stipend of twenty kan-mon. Additionally, for the surveying (sao-ire) of new paddy field development land (okime) adjacent to the Natesaki Village domain in the Noyachi area, a stipend equivalent to seventeen kan and ninety-four mon was granted on the tenth day of the second month of Manji 3 (1660), bringing the total combined stipend to one hundred thirty-seven kan and ninety-four mon.

In the tenth month of Kanbun 10 (1670), my late father Nakatsukasa was ordered into retirement, and I was informed on the twenty-sixth day of the tenth month of that same year, in Edo through Harada Kai, that the aforementioned stipend would be granted to me without alteration. Furthermore, regarding my appointment to the position of magistrate (bugyō), messengers Amano Magodayū and Aneba Hachirozaemon were dispatched from Edo, and on the fourth day of the twelfth month of Kanbun 12 (1672), the appointment was formally conveyed to me at the late Kouchi Shima's residence, with both messengers present alongside Shima.

In the fifth month [or eleventh month] of Enpō 3 (1675), I was summoned before the lord, and following consultation with the Lord Minonokamі-sama and the senior councillors (rōjū), I was directly informed that the stipend would be granted as a service stipend (oyakuryō chigyō), bringing the total combined stipend to [a certain amount].

Furthermore, for the surveying of new paddy field development land adjacent to Natesaki Village domain, a stipend equivalent to ten kan and six hundred fifty-seven mon was granted on the twenty-third day of the eleventh month of Enpō 3 (1675). On the twenty-first day of the third month of Enpō 5 (1677), a further stipend of one hundred seventy-six mon was granted for the surveying of new paddy field development land adjacent to the same village's domain. The total of all stipends currently held through these grants is as stated above.
