熊谷直実（くまがへなをざね）と平山（ひらやま）武者所（むしやどころ）と一の谷（たに）の魁（さきがけ）
せし儀（ぎ）をとりて名付也又云 或（ある）人（ひと）のいはく
千弁（せんよう）のものあり喜梅花（せんようのにはざくら）に似（に）たりとぞ是
熊谷（くまかへ）にあらず則（すなわち）是を芸花園（げいくはゑん）にいふ
楊貴妃（やうきひ）なり緋桜（ひざくら）に似（に）て小（ちいさ）し又 単弁（ひとへ）
大 輪（りん）にして色（いろ）紅暈（かうぐん）を帯（たい）し芝山（しばやま）と云
ものに似（に）たるを熊谷（くまがへ）とよぶ是又 非（ひ）也

是は逆手（さかて）桜といふもの也
○活所翁曰桜花の魁（さきがけ）なり二月花を
開（ひら）く彼岸（ひがん）桜に先だつ也 花（はな）小（ちいさく）して重（やゑ）
色（いろ）微（すこ）し赤（あか）しと也

【右丁】
熊谷直実と平山武者所が一ノ谷の戦いで先陣を切った故事にちなんで名付けられた。また別の説として、ある人が言うには、
千弁のものがあり、千弁の庭桜に似ているという。これは
熊谷桜ではない。すなわちこれを芸花園では
楊貴妃と呼んでいる。緋桜に似ているが小さい。また単弁で
大輪で色が紅暈を帯び、芝山という
品種に似ているものを熊谷と呼ぶのは、これもまた間違いである。
【左丁】
これは逆手桜というものである。
○活所翁が言うには「桜花の中で最も早く咲く。二月に花を
開く。彼岸桜よりも先に咲く。花は小さくて八重、
色は少し赤い」とのことである。

It was named after the story of Kumagae Naozane and Hirayama Mushyadokoro taking the lead in the battle of Ichinotani. Another theory states that a certain person said
there is a thousand-petaled variety that resembles the thousand-petaled garden cherry. This is
not the true Kumagae cherry. Rather, this is what the flower garden calls
Yōkihi (Yang Guifei). It resembles scarlet cherry but is smaller. Also, calling single-petaled
large-flowered varieties with reddish coloring that resemble the variety called Shibayama
"Kumagae" is also incorrect.
