○鈍永が言うには、「（雪山桜は）中輪で、白色であること雪のようである。ただし、花の形が婆桜（うばざくら）とまったく同じであり、誤れば婆桜と見間違えるものである。」

○怡顔斎が言うには、「花は白色である。山桜の仲間で、大輪である。一重咲きで、花びらが外側に反り返ることも、内側に抱え込むこともない。花が開くと、花弁が平らになる。それゆえ『一文字』と呼ぶのである。」

○Ikansai said: "The blossoms are white. It belongs to the Yama-zakura group and bears large flowers. It is single-petaled, and the petals neither curl outward nor fold inward. When the flower opens, the petals lie perfectly flat. It is for this reason that it is called 'Ichimonji' (meaning 'a single horizontal stroke,' as in the character 一)."
